A strategy for O-glycoproteomics of enveloped viruses--the O-glycoproteome of herpes simplex virus type 1.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Glycosylation of viral envelope proteins is important for infectivity and interaction with host immunity, however, our current knowledge of the functions of glycosylation is largely limited to N-glycosylation because it is difficult to predict and ...

Ridge regression estimated linear probability model predictions of O-glycosylation in proteins with structural and sequence data

open access: yesBMC Molecular and Cell Biology, 2019
Background To-date, no claim regarding finding a consensus sequon for O-glycosylation has been made. Thus, predicting the likelihood of O-glycosylation with sequence and structural information using classical regression analysis is quite difficult.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Expression and in vitro glycosylation of recombinant edible bird nest (EBN) mucin

open access: yesFood Materials Research
Edible bird's nest (EBN) is considered a delicacy in Chinese cuisine. The nests are produced by male swiftlets (Aerodramus sp.). Due to their high price, the nutritional benefit from EBN can currently only be afforded by affluent consumers.

Structural Identification of Glycopeptides Derived from Chicken Egg White Proteins [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
The primary proteins in chicken egg white are glycoproteins, which generate substantial glycopeptides in the digestive tract following gastrointestinal digestion. The structures of the glycopeptides have yet to be identified and elucidated. In this study,

Glycosylation and behavioral symptoms in neurological disorders

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry, 2023
Glycosylation, the addition of glycans or carbohydrates to proteins, lipids, or other glycans, is a complex post-translational modification that plays a crucial role in cellular function.

Integration of O-GlcNAc into Stress Response Pathways

open access: yesCells, 2022
The modification of nuclear, mitochondrial, and cytosolic proteins by O-linked βN-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) has emerged as a dynamic and essential post-translational modification of mammalian proteins.

Morphology of Biomaterials Affect O-Glycosylation of HUVECs

open access: yesJournal of Functional Biomaterials, 2022
Biomaterials have been widely used as substitutes for diseased tissue in surgery and have gained great success and attention. At present, the biocompatibility of biomaterials such as PET woven fabrics is often evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. However, the current experimental methods cannot reveal the relationship between material surfaces and cell

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.
