Omadacycline: A Modernized Tetracycline
AbstractWhen tetracyclines were introduced in the 1940s, these antibiotics offered a broad spectrum of activity against multiple types of pathogens. However, their utility waned after the selection of tetracycline resistance in the pathogens against which they were effective. Omadacycline is a semisynthetic aminomethylcycline antibacterial derived from

Antimicrobial consumption and resistance in bacteria from humans and food‐producing animals
Abstract The fourth joint inter‐agency report on integrated analysis of antimicrobial consumption (AMC) and the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in bacteria from humans and food‐producing animals (JIACRA) addressed data obtained by the Agencies' EU‐wide surveillance networks for 2019–2021.

Omadacycline for treatment of Mycobacterium chelonae skin infection
Mycobacterium chelonae can be difficult to treat because of inherent resistance to many available antimicrobials. We present a case of a multidrug-resistant M. chelonae skin infection in a 52-year-old woman who presented with a 3- to 4-week history of painful, erythematous nodules on the bilateral lower extremities.

Omadacycline gut microbiome exposure does not induce Clostridium difficile proliferation or toxin production in a model that simulates the proximal, medial and distal human colon [PDF]
A clinically reflective model of the human colon was used to investigate the effects of the broad-spectrum antibiotic omadacycline on the gut microbiome, and subsequent potential to induce simulated Clostridium difficile infection (CDI).

Pharmacokinetics of Omadacycline in Adults with Cystic Fibrosis
Omadacycline offers a potential advancement in the management of infections in people with cystic fibrosis (CF) because of its spectrum of activity, intrapulmonary penetration, and oral bioavailability. A prospective single-dose, single-arm study was conducted to characterize the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of omadacycline in people with CF ...
