Metabolomics in Plants and Humans: Applications in the Prevention and Diagnosis of Diseases

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
In the recent years, there has been an increase in the number of metabolomic approaches used, in parallel with proteomic and functional genomic studies. The wide variety of chemical types of metabolites available has also accelerated the use of different techniques in the investigation of the metabolome.

Induction and Flow Cytometry Identification of Tetraploids from Seed‐Derived Explants through Colchicine Treatments in Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
The tetraploid plants of Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don was obtained by colchicine induction from seeds explants, and the ploidy of the plants was identified by flow cytometry. The optimal treatment is 0.2% colchicine solution treated for 24 hours, and the induction rate reaches up to 30%. Comparing with morphological characteristics and growth habits

Integration of cell differentiation and initiation of monoterpenoid indole alkaloid metabolism in seed germination of Catharanthus roseus

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 3, Page 1156-1171, May 2024.
Summary In Catharanthus roseus, monoterpenoid indole alkaloids (MIAs) are produced through the cooperation of four cell types, with final products accumulating in specialized cells known as idioblasts and laticifers. To explore the relationship between cellular differentiation and cell type‐specific MIA metabolism, we analyzed the expression of MIA ...

Genomic‐wide identification and expression analysis of AP2/ERF transcription factors in Zanthoxylum armatum reveals the candidate genes for the biosynthesis of terpenoids

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 17, Issue 1, March 2024.
Abstract Terpenoids are the main active components in the Zanthoxylum armatum leaves, which have extensive medicinal value. The Z. armatum leaf is the main by‐product in the Z. armatum industry. However, the transcription factors involved in the biosynthesis of terpenoids are rarely reported.
