Structure-guided discovery of orexin receptor-binding PET ligands

open access: yes
Molecular imaging using positron emission tomography (PET) can serve as a promising tool for visualizing biological targets in the brain. Insights into the expression pattern and the in vivo imaging of the G protein-coupled orexin receptors OX1R and OX2R

Integrative physiology of orexins and orexin receptors.

open access: yesIntegrative physiology of orexins and orexin receptors.
Recent studies have established that the orexin system is a critical regulator of sleep/wake states. Deficiency of orexin signaling results in the sleep disorder narcolepsy-cataplexy in humans, dogs, and rodents. These findings have brought about the possibility of novel therapies for sleep disorders including narcolepsy-cataplexy.

Orexin-B modulates synaptic transmission of rod bipolar cells in rat retina

open access: yes, 2017
PURPOSE: Orexin-A, -B play a crucial role in arousal and feeding by activating two G-protein-coupled receptors: OX1R and OX2R. Orexins and orexin receptors are expressed in retinal neurons.

Orexin Receptors in Recombinant CHO Cells : Signaling to Short- and Long-Term Cell Responses

open access: yes, 2005
Recently discovered neuropeptides orexins (orexin-A and -B) act as endogenous ligands for G-protein-coupled receptors called OX1 and OX2 receptors. Our previous studies have established model systems for investigation of the pharmacology and signaling of
