2D copper nanozyme patches facilitate bone regeneration via interfacial modulation of osteoclast‐osteoblast dynamics

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This study develops a nano‐enzyme patch (ezPatch) targeting bone interfaces. Utilizing ligand‐to‐metal charge transfer (LMCT) catalysis and bone‐targeting ligands on copper nanosheets, ezPatch simultaneously scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and generates oxygen in situ at bone‐losing sites.

Vitamin D Effects on Osteoblastic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells from Dental Tissues

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2016
1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3), the active metabolite of vitamin D (Vit D), increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate, maintaining a correct balance of bone remodeling.

Reading hominin life history in fossil bones and teeth: methods to test hypotheses regarding its evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human life history is derived compared to that of our closest living relatives, the great apes. It has been suggested that these derived traits are causally related to aspects of our ecology, social behaviour and cognitive abilities. However, resolving this requires that we know the evolutionary trajectory of our distinctive pattern of growth,

Manifestation of osteoblastic phenotypes in the sarcomatous component of epithelial carcinoma and sarcomatoid carcinoma

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Epithelial carcinomas occasionally have sarcomatous components that consist primarily of spindle and cuboidal cells, which often resemble osteoblasts. Sarcomatoid carcinomas consist of similar cells. Recent studies have characterized these phenomena as a

Platelet lysate as a serum substitute for 2D static and 3D perfusion culture of stromal vascular fraction cells from human adipose tissue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Fetal bovine serum (FBS) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-2 are key supplements for the culture of stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells from adipose tissue, both for typical monolayer (2D) expansion and for streamlined generation of osteogenic ...

Adipocytes in Aortic Stenosis: Association With Clinical and Morphological Indices

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recently, great attention has been given to understanding the new pathogenetic mechanisms underlying aortic stenosis (AS). The study aims to understand the role of mature adipocytes in AS and their association with histologic, clinical, and echocardiographic data, an area previously overlooked in AS research.

The BMP signaling pathway enhances the osteoblastic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in rats with osteoporosis

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2019
Background This study was conducted with the aim of exploring the effect of the BMP signaling pathway on osteoblastic differentiation in rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) in rats with osteoporosis (OP).

EMD273316 & EMD95833, type 4 phosphodiesterase inhibitors, stimulate fibroblastic-colony formation by bone marrow cells via direct inhibition of PDE4 and the induction of endogenous prostaglandin synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
BACKGROUND: Type 4 phosphodiesterase (PDE4) inhibitors have been shown to stimulate bone formation in vivo and to stimulate osteoblastic differentiation in vitro.

Total Synthesis and Complete Stereochemical Assignment of Amphirionin‐5, a Potent Natural Osteoblasts Proliferator

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
The convergent total synthesis of a candidate diastereomer of amphirionin‐5 was accomplished in 22 steps via the coupling of the C1‐C16 enone segment and the C17‐C28 aldehyde segment using Stetter reaction. The overall stereochemistry of amphirionin‐5 was fully assigned, based on the comparison of spectroscopic and chiroptical data between the ...

Different Methylation Patterns of RUNX2, OSX, DLX5 and BSP in Osteoblastic Differentiation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2015
Objective: Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) and osterix (OSX) as two specific osteoblast transcription factors and distal-less homeobox 5 (DLX5) as a non-specific one are of paramount importance in regulating osteoblast related genes ...
