Loss of Dkk-1 in Osteocytes Mitigates Alveolar Bone Loss in Mice With Periodontitis
Background: Periodontitis is a highly prevalent infection-triggered inflammatory disease that results in bone loss. Inflammation causes bone resorption by osteoclasts, and also by suppression of bone formation via increase of Dickkopf-1 (Dkk-1), an ...

Exosomal miR‐146a‐5p is identified as a pivotal regulator in steroid‐induced osteonecrosis. Its reduction activates NF‐κB signaling, compromises mitophagy, and disrupts mitochondrial bioenergetics, resulting in autophagic disequilibrium. Engineered exosomes delivering miR‐146a‐5p reinstate mitochondrial function, augment oxidative phosphorylation and ...

Phenotyping of Human Pulp Cells After Cryopreservation
ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare cell viability, morphology, cell yield, and stem cell‐associated marker expression of cryopreserved human dental pulp cells (HDPCs) across different passages following thawing and serial in vitro expansion. HDPCs were isolated from three healthy donors, cryopreserved at −80°C for 3 months, and subsequently evaluated

This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.

Osteoimmunology in rheumatic diseases [PDF]
This review summarizes the recent advances of osteoimmunology, a new research field that investigates the interaction of the immune system with the skeleton. Osteoimmunology has contributed significantly to the understanding of joint destruction in rheumatoid arthritis and other forms of arthropathies.

An MRI‐based classification system integrating fibrosis extent (F1–F3) and inflammatory bone marrow edema activity (E0–E3) was developed for osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Increasing fibrosis and edema severity were associated with higher collapse risk, worse pain, and poorer hip function.

Aging BMSC‐derived Thbs1 activates the macrophage TGF‐β/Smad3 pathway to transcriptionally repress Pink1, impairing mitophagy and causing mitochondrial ROS accumulation. This redox imbalance drives M1 polarization and IL‐6 secretion. IL‐6 feeds back to BMSCs via the JAK/STAT3 pathway to inhibit osteogenesis and upregulate Thbs1, establishing a self ...

Periodontitis as a Model for Inflammatory Uncoupling of Bone Remodeling
Periodontitis can be viewed as a state of inflammatory uncoupling of bone remodeling, in which excessive osteoclast‐mediated resorption coexists with impaired bone formation. This review integrates emerging insights from osteoimmunology, osteocyte biology, mechanobiology, aging, and resolution pathways to position periodontitis as an accessible in vivo
