Comparative analysis of oxidized fish oil and coenzyme Q10 on the intestinal microecology of largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides at different growth stages

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2023
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a powerful antioxidant that is gradually being used in aquafeeds. Here, we examined the influence of oxidized fish oil and CoQ10 supplementation on intestinal microbiota of Micropterus salmoides at different growth stages.

Oxidative Stability of Fish Oil Blended with Butter

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1999
The oxidative stability of fish oil blended with milk products was evaluated. Oxidation of the oil blend was determined by peroxide value and rancimat test. Improved oxidative stability was observed for fish oil blended with butter. Unsalted and salted butters showed no difference in improvement of effect on oxidative stability of fish oil.

Effects of a Fish Oil Rich in Docosahexaenoic Acid on Cardiometabolic Risk Factors and Oxidative Stress in Healthy Rats

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2021
Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are associated with a lower risk of cardiometabolic diseases. However, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is easily oxidized, leading to cellular damage.

Malondialdehyde and 4-hydroxy-2-hexenal are formed during dynamic gastrointestinal in vitro digestion of cod liver oils. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Marine long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC n-3 PUFA) are associated with reduced risk for inflammatory diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and rheumatoid arthritis. These fatty acids, however, are rapidly oxidized, generating highly reactive

Sulforaphane alleviates oxidative stress induced by oxidized fish oil in Litopenaeus vannamei by involving antioxidant capacity, inflammation, autophagy, and apoptosis

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2023
Sulforaphane (SFN) is an antioxidant. Unsaturated fatty acids are rich in fish oil, and they are indispensable fatty acids for aquatic animals to grow and reproduce.

Characterization of Oxidative Stability of Fish Oil‐ and Plant Oil‐Enriched Skimmed Milk [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 2012
AbstractThe objective of this research was to determine the oxidative stability of fish oil blended with crude plant oils rich in naturally occurring antioxidants, camelina oil and oat oil, respectively, in bulk and after supplementation of 1 wt% of oil blends to skimmed milk emulsions.

Regulation of genes involved in carnitine homeostasis by PPARa across different species (rat, mouse, pig, cattle, chicken, and human) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recent studies in rodents convincingly demonstrated that PPAR-alpha is a key regulator of genes involved in carnitine homeostasis, which serves as a reasonable explanation for the phenomenon that energy deprivation and fibrate treatment, both of which ...

Effect of fish oil on oxidative stress markers in patients with probable Alzheimer´s disease

open access: yesArchivos Latinoamericanos de Nutrición, 2020
High intake of omega-3 fatty acids has been associated with synaptic plasticity, neurogenesis and memory in several experimental models. To assess the efficacy of fish oil supplementation on oxidative stress markers in patients diagnosed with probable ...

Effects of caffeic acid and bovine serum albumin in reducing the rate of development of rancidity in oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The antioxidant properties of caffeic acid and bovine serum albumin in oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions were studied. Caffeic acid (5 mmol/kg emulsion) showed good antioxidant properties in both 30% sunflower oil-in-water (OW) and 20% water-in ...

Electrobioremediation of oil spills [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Annually, thousands of oil spills occur across the globe. As a result, petroleum substances and petrochemical compounds are widespread contaminants causing concern due to their toxicity and recalcitrance.
