Exploring recent advances in drugs severe cutaneous adverse reactions immunopathology
Abstract Severe cutaneous adverse reactions to drugs (SCARs) are rare but life‐threatening delayed allergies. While they primarily affect the skin, they can also affect internal organs. Accordingly, they present with diverse clinical symptoms that vary not only between SCARs subtypes but also among patients.

In chronic kidney disease (CKD), hyperuricemia is a common phenomenon, presumably due to reduced renal clearance of uric acid. This study investigated the effect of xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors allopurinol and febuxostat to prevent oxidative stress in the kidney of two‐kidney, one‐clip (2K1C) rats.

A whole tissue metabonomic and gene expression analysis of diseased kidney tissue used an adenine diet‐induced chronic kidney disease mouse model. Evidence observed of decreased utilisation of fatty acid oxidation and increased reliance of glycolysis by the cell of the kidney under disease conditions.

Abstract Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are complex, encompassing many types of heart pathophysiologies and associated etiologies. Radiotherapy studies have shown that fractionated radiation exposure at high doses (3–17 Gy) to the heart increases the incidence of CVD.

Biological biomarkers of oral cancer
Abstract The oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) 5 year survival rate of 41% has marginally improved in the last few years, with less than a 1% improvement per year from 2005 to 2017, with higher survival rates when detected at early stages. Based on histopathological grading of oral dysplasia, it is estimated that severe dysplasia has a malignant ...

Multicentre study and systematic review: Allopurinol exposure during pregnancy
Despite being the largest study to date, evidence regarding the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes after allopurinol exposure remains limited. Interestingly, both our multicentre study and systematic review sub‐analysis in IBD‐pregnancies revealed a relatively low risk of congenital malformations after foetal exposure to a low dose of allopurinol in ...

In a mouse model of type 2 diabetes, we used antibiotics and the intestinal fxr agonist Fexaramine to interfere with the intestinal flora and activate the intestinal fxr to investigate whether red kidney bean polysaccharides (RKB) could still have a protective effect on the hepatic function of diabetic mice under the premise that the intestinal flora ...

The development and evaluation of dose‐prediction tools for allopurinol therapy (Easy‐Allo tools)
Abstract Aims Dose escalation at the initiation of allopurinol therapy can be protracted and resource intensive. Tools to predict the allopurinol doses required to achieve target serum urate concentrations would facilitate the implementation of more efficient dose‐escalation strategies.
