Analgesic effect of dl-THP on inflammatory pain mediated by suppressing spinal TRPV1 and P2X3 receptors in rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2021
Tetrahydropalmatine (dl-THP) demonstrates an analgesic effect in animal models of neuropathic and inflammatory pain, however, the underlying mechanisms of its pharmacological action within the spinal cord remains unclear. Both P2X3 receptor and TRPV1 are

Research Progress on Upper Airway Cough Syndrome

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Upper airway cough syndrome (UACS) has been identified as a significant contributor to chronic cough in various national guidelines. However, the complexity of its pathogenesis, the lack of clarity surrounding its diagnostic criteria, and its overlap with other etiologies of chronic cough present considerable challenges in both diagnosis and ...

Electrical Activity of the Bladder Is Attenuated by Intravesical Inhibition of P2X2/3 Receptors During Micturition in Female Rats [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Neurourology Journal, 2017
Purpose To simultaneously monitor electrical discharges in various bladder regions and the external urethral sphincter (EUS) during voiding contractions, and to assess the functional role of myogenic modulation of the lower urinary tract (LUT) by ...

Peripheral targets for neuropathic pain

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Neuropathic pain represents a significant clinical challenge, with still limited pharmacological approaches to symptomatic relief. This review focuses on molecular targets implicated in neuropathic pain, particularly those involved in peripheral mechanisms. Using the IUPHAR/BPS database of biological targets, their occurrence together with ‘neuropathic

The ASIC3/P2X3 cognate receptor is a pain-relevant and ligand-gated cationic channel

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Two subclasses of ligand-gated ion channels (ASIC3 and P2X3) are both present at sensory neurons and might be therefore subject to receptor crosstalk. Here authors use electrophysiology, biochemistry and co-immunoprecipitation to show that the two ion ...

Effects of long non-coding RNA Gm14461 on pain transmission in trigeminal neuralgia

open access: yesJournal of Inflammation, 2020
Background This study aims to investigate the role of long non-coding RNA Gm14461 in regulating pain transmission in trigeminal neuralgia (TN). The mouse TN model was produced by chronic constriction injury of the infraorbital nerve (CCI-ION). The values

P2X3-Containing Receptors as Targets for the Treatment of Chronic Pain [PDF]

open access: yesNeurotherapeutics, 2020
Current therapies for the treatment of chronic pain provide inadequate relief for millions of suffering patients, demonstrating the need for better therapies that will treat pain effectively and improve the quality of patient's lives. Better understanding of the mechanisms that mediate chronic pain is critical for developing drugs with improved ...

Nutrient‐specific combinatorial secretion of GLP‐1 and neurotransmitters in the enteroendocrine L‐cell line GLUTag

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Enteroendocrine L cells function as chemosensors in the intestine. Using the L‐cell line GLUTag, we show that distinct nutrients trigger different combinations of co‐secretion of GLP‐1 and neurotransmitters: D‐glucose evokes GLP‐1, glutamate, and ATP; L‐glutamine evokes GLP‐1 and glutamate; sucralose and butyrate evoke only GLP‐1.

P2X3 receptors are transducers of sensory signals

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin, 2019
Peripheral stimuli are transduced by specific receptors expressed by sensory neurons and are further processed in the dorsal horn of spinal cord before to be transmitted to the brain. While relative few receptor subtypes mediate the initial depolarisation of sensory neurons, an impressive number of molecules and ion channels integrate these inputs into

P2X3 receptor expression by HEK cells conditions their survival [PDF]

open access: yesPurinergic Signalling, 2011
On nociceptive neurons, one important mechanism to generate pain signals is the activation of P2X3 receptors, which are membrane proteins gated by extracellular ATP. In this work, we have studied the recovery of recombinant P2X3 receptor expression in human embryonic kidney (HEK) cells.
