PAA-PAMPS copolymers as an efficient tool to control CaCO3 scale formation.

open access: yesLangmuir, 2013
Scale formation, the deposition of certain minerals such as CaCO3, MgCO3, and CaSO4·2H2O in industrial facilities and household devices, leads to reduced efficiency or severe damage. Therefore, incrustation is a major problem in everyday life.

Gut‐microbiota‐brain Axis and post‐traumatic epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract There has been growing evidence that perturbations in gut‐microbiota‐brain axis (GMBA) are involved in mechanisms of chronic sequelae of traumatic brain injury (TBI). This review discusses the connection between GMBA and post‐traumatic epilepsy (PTE), the latter being a common outcome of TBI.

Spontaneous regression of equine sarcoids is an exceptional event

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Sarcoids are benign, yet locally aggressive skin tumours that commonly affect horses and other equid species. The lesions are induced by bovine papillomavirus types 1, 2, and probably 13 in conjunction with other factors including trauma and a genetic predisposition.

GC × GC‐TOF MS and Sensory Profiling of Aroma Compounds in Magnolia Species: Effects of Processing Methods on Volatile Retention in M. wufengensis

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, EarlyView.
The first comparative analysis of Magnolia scents reveals that M. wufengensis is characterised by a high aldehyde content, exhibiting a fresh, sweet, and fruity fragrance profile. Furthermore, freeze‐drying preserves 6.7 times more 2‐nonenal compared to shade‐drying, highlighting its superior efficacy in retaining key volatile compounds.

The liver’s dilemma: sensing real danger in a sea of PAMPs: the (arterial) sinusoidal segment theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
The liver is susceptible to viruses and bacterial infections, tumors, and sterile tissue damage, but immunological danger recognition in the liver is highly unconventional. When analyzing innate and adaptive immunity in the organ, the valid concepts that
