Selective Targeting of Immune Checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 Using Novel Dual Signaling Protein DSP216 Promotes Innate Anticancer Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The inhibitory immune checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 are expressed on certain tumor types and inhibit immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. DSP216 binds specifically to cancer cells expressing both HLA‐G and CD47, and blocks their inhibitory signaling.

Assessing Implantation Sites for Pancreatic Islet Cell Transplantation: Implications for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Treatment

open access: yesBioengineering
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) involves the destruction of pancreatic β-cells, requiring ongoing insulin therapy. A promising alternative for management is pancreatic islet transplantation, or the bioartificial pancreas.

DIY artificial pancreas systems: the clinician perspective.

open access: yes, 2020
We are witnessing a technological revolution in type 1 diabetes, with a race to bring commercial closed-loop (artificial pancreas) systems to market. However, only one automated insulin-delivery system, the Medtronic MiniMed 670G, has received both US ...

Nanomedicine Meets Immunotherapy: Advancing Adoptive Cell Therapy with Nanoparticles in the Treatment of Cancer with Sustainability Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.

Intraperitoneal insulin infusion: on the way to the artificial pancreas

open access: yesСахарный диабет, 2015
Creating an "artificial pancreas" (a "closed loop" insulin pump, with self-adjusting insulin abilities, based on real time continuous glucose monitoring data) – is one of the most actual medical challenges of modern engineering and cybernetics.Artificial

Large‐Scale Genomics Reveals Three‐Source Ancestry and Layered Adaptation to High Altitude in Tibetan Chickens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Whole‐genome analysis of 1,054 chickens reveals three ancestral sources (NWC, SYA, and SHF) with distinct temporal entry patterns into the Tibetan Plateau. Route‐specific selection scans, calibrated against a demographic null, suggest complementary functional enrichments—vascular homeostasis (NWC), calcium signaling and cardiac adaptation (SYA), and ...
