Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Purification and in situ immobilization of papain with aqueous two-phase system. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Papain was purified from spray-dried Carica papaya latex using aqueous two-phase system (ATPS). Then it was recovered from PEG phase by in situ immobilization or preparing cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs). The Plackett-Burman design and the central

ProSiteHunter: A Unified Framework for Sequence‐Based Prediction of Protein‐Nucleic Acid and Protein‐Protein Binding Sites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study proposed a unified sequence‐based framework for protein binding site prediction, which adopted a tri‐track semantic multi‐source feature fusion strategy to effectively capture diverse macromolecular interaction sites and further improved the accuracy of antibody‐antigen interaction prediction.

FOS3D: A Fluorescence‐Enabled Toolkit for Characterizing a Three‐dimensional Osteosarcoma Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FOS3D describes fluorescent (F) osteosarcoma (OS) cells in a tri‐dimensional (3D) model. The study comprises three phases: development, where biofabrication parameters are tuned to achieve cytocompatibility and tumor‐specific mechanical properties in cell‐laden gelatin methacryloyl constructs; validation, where whole‐well fluorescence reading is ...

Extraction, identification and activity of Papain from Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, 2006
Background and purpose: Papain, a proteolytic enzyme, is found in the dried and purified latex from the fruits of Carica papaya L. (Caricaceae).Papain is used in medicine as a digestive and in the debridement of necrotic tissues.

Aldehydes as Inhibitors of Papain

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1972
Abstract Aldehydes, structurally related to the acyl portion of substrates, are extremely potent competitive inhibitors of papain. At pH 5.5 and 25°, approximately 1 mole of acetyl-l-phenylalanylaminoacetaldehyde is bound per mole of papain, with Ki = 4.6 x 10-8 m.

RBM12 Maintains Glioma Stem Cells by Activating Amino Acid‐Dependent mTORC1 Signaling via SLC7A5 mRNA Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that in glioma stem cells (GSCs), RBM12 recruits ALKBH5 to remove m6A from SLC7A5 transcripts, thereby enhancing mRNA stability, which elevates large neutral amino acid (LNAA) levels and activates mTORC1, promoting GSC proliferation, self‐renewal, and tumor growth.

Exploring papain for root canal disinfection: Antibiofilm efficacy and biocompatibility in vitro

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dental Research
Introduction: Safer, biocompatible alternatives to NaOCl for endodontic irrigation are being explored; papain (a plant protease) could be one. Methods: E. faecalis biofilms on dentin discs treated with 4% papain, 2.5% NaOCl, or saline.

Eye‐Brain Neuroimmune Axis Enables Long‐Term Survival in Glioblastoma by Modulating Brain Immune Surveillance and Neuronal Excitability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The eye–brain neuroimmune axis triggers immune activation and disrupts pathological neuronal connectivity to extend glioblastoma survival. ABSTRACT As an anatomical extension of the central nervous system (CNS), the eye harbors rich neural and immune interfaces with the brain. However, the integrated immunological and neurological nexus between the eye
