Polymorphism of Human Serum Paraoxonase
1978The insecticide parathion is metabolized in the organism as shown in Figure 1. An important reaction is the oxidation to paraoxon, which is very toxic to warmblooded and many other animals. Parathion and paraoxon are hydrolyzed in body fluids and organs. Of special interest today is the hydrolysis of paraoxon in human serum.
