lncRNA PAX8-AS1 suppresses cervical cancer development by regulating miR-675-3p/ axis

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers
Objective Cervical cancer (CC) is among the most prevalent malignancies globally. Public sequencing data indicate that PAX8-AS1 is associated with gynecological cancers, including CC, but its specific function and mechanism in cervical cancer remain ...

RXR Gamma Enables Oligodendrocyte Differentiation by Suppressing Sonic Hedgehog Signaling

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 6, June 2026.
Using pharmacogenetic approaches, Baldassarro et al. demonstrate that RXRγ suppresses the SHH signaling pathway in OPCs to ensure their efficient differentiation following T3 stimulation. Accordingly, Rxrg−/− OPCs displayed compromised differentiation which was normalized by the pharmacological inhibition of the hyperactive SHH pathway.

Thyroid Progenitors Are Robustly Derived from Embryonic Stem Cells through Transient, Developmental Stage-Specific Overexpression of Nkx2-1

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2017
The clinical importance of anterior foregut endoderm (AFE) derivatives, such as thyrocytes, has led to intense research efforts for their derivation through directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells (PSCs).

Thyroid metastasis from ovarian clear cell carcinoma

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports
A 56-year-old woman with cervical pain with a history of ovarian clear cell carcinoma stage IIIC was admitted to a primary care doctor. Ultrasonography revealed a microhyperechoic nodule in the thyroid gland and cervical lymph node enlargement, and fine ...

Initial clinical presentation of single soft tissue metastasis of medullary thyroid carcinoma without primary tumor in the thyroid gland

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2017
Background Single soft tissue metastasis of medullary thyroid carcinoma is extremely rare. In addition, several occult medullary thyroid carcinomas with distant metastasis were reported, but undetectable primary lesion at diagnosis was also extremely ...

Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) disrupts cadherin-16 in the developing rat thyroid gland

open access: yesCurrent Research in Toxicology
Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) can disrupt the thyroid hormone (TH) system in rodents, potentially affecting perinatal growth and neurodevelopment.

Wnt4 expression in thyroid cells is modulated by the transcription factor Pax8

open access: yes, 2013
The transcription factor Pax8 is expressed during thyroid development and is involved in the morphogenesis of the thyroid gland and maintenance of the differentiated phenotype. To date, Pax8 has been shown to regulate all the genes that are considered markers of thyroid differentiation.

Chromosomal rearrangements and the pathogenesis of differentiated thyroid cancer

open access: yesOncology Reviews, 2011
The majority of thyroid cancers arise from the follicular cells of the thyroid gland, which yield a wide variety of distinct morphotypes, ranging from relatively indolent lesions to the most malignant forms of cancer known.

Ectopic Thyroid Tissue Presenting as an Anterior Mediastinal Mass in an Elderly Male

open access: yesCurrent Medical Issues
A rare developmental defect called ectopic thyroid tissue (ETT) is caused by abnormal embryonic migration. Less than 1% of ectopic thyroid instances are mediastinal ETT, which might radiologically resemble malignant neoplasms.
