PCR–DGGE differentiation of strains of Saccharomyces sensu stricto
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2004A quick molecular biology method based on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis (DGGE) was developed for distinguishing strains belonging to the Saccharomyces sensu stricto group. Differentiation was obtained between S. cerevisiae, S. paradoxus and S. bayanus / S.

Use of the PCR-DGGE method in forensic microbiology
Issues of Forensic Science, 2016The latest reports on the subject of forensic microbiology indicate that it is possible to link a perpetrator of an offence to the evidence, based on molecular analysis of microbiological material. The microbiome of human epidermis is known to be species- and individual-specific.

Modified linker-PCR primers facilitate complete sequencing of DGGE DNA fragments
Modified linker-PCR primers were developed to enable complete sequencing of a DGGE band in one reaction. Commonly used bacterial and archaeal 16S rRNA gene PCR-DGGE primers were modified to contain linkers and sequencing primers. This protocol does not

Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium Diversity in Horse Feces, Revealed by PCR-DGGE
Current Microbiology, 2009Lactobacillus equi, Lactobacillus hayakitensis, Lactobacillus johnsonii, and Weissella confusa/cibaria were the dominant species in 12 South African horses. The Bifidobacterium-group was detected in the feces of only one of the 12 horses. Sequencing of the nested-PCR amplicon identified the Bifidobacterium-group as Parascardovia denticolens.

PCR-DGGE analysis of bacterial population attached to the bovine rumen wall
Folia Microbiologica, 2010We isolated and amplified by PCR 16S rDNA from bacteria attached to the bovine rumen wall and analyzed it by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) with subsequent sequence analysis. The attached bacterial community differed from the bacteria of rumen content; however, no differences were observed among the five epithelial sampling sites taken ...

Microbial diversity in lake sediments detected by PCR-DGGE
Frontiers of Biology in China, 2008In this study, PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) was applied to analyze the microbial communities in lake sediments from Lake Xuanwu, Lake Mochou in Nanjing and Lake Taihu in Wuxi. Sediment samples from seven locations in three lakes were collected and their genomic DNAs were extracted.

Application of PCR-DGGE for Identification Microflora of Kulen
2002The microbiology of fermented sausages is varied and complex. The type of microflora that develops is often closely related to the rippening technique utilized. Manufacturing of fermented sausages has a long tradition in croatian region Slavonija. Kulen sausage is an indigenous croatian product.

Microbiological characterisation of Robiola di Roccaverano cheese using PCR–DGGE
Food Microbiology, 2008The aim of this study was the microbiological characterisation of a typical Italian cheese "Robiola di Roccaverano" with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Fresh and ripened robiola samples were collected from four artisanal and one industrial producer.

Diversity of bacterial population of table olives assessed by PCR-DGGE analysis
Food Microbiology, 2012Nocellara Etnea and Geracese table olives are produced according to traditional process, in which lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts are the dominant microorganisms. With the aim to evaluate the effect of selected starter cultures on dynamics of bacterial population during fermentation and on growth/survival of Listeria spp.
