EGb 761 reduces Ca2+ influx and apoptosis after pentylenetetrazole treatment in a neuroblastoma cell line [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2023
BackgroundTransient receptor potential (TRP) channels have been found to have significant implications in neuronal outgrowth, survival, inflammatory neurogenic pain, and various epileptogenic processes.

Effect of Artemisia persica on seizure severity and memory and learning disorders in pentylenetetrazole-kindled mice

open access: yesBangladesh Journal of Pharmacology, 2019
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Artemisia persica (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg) on pentylenetetrazole-induced seizure and memory impairment. Sixty mice were assigned to seven groups.

Pentylenetetrazol Kindling Epilepsy Model

open access: yesJournal of the Turkish Epilepsi Society, 2015
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic disorders affecting approximately 1% of the general population, and no alleviation was achieved in one third of the patients medicated with antiepileptic drugs. Current treatments of epilepsy are symptomatic and have more anti-seizure effects than antiepileptic effects. These therapies do not cure epilepsy.

Reference Gene Validation in the Brain Regions of Young Rats after Pentylenetetrazole-Induced Seizures

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2020
Reverse transcription followed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) is a powerful and commonly used tool for gene expression analysis. It requires the right choice of stably expressed reference genes for accurate normalization.

Chronic sleep deprivation promotes drug-resistant epilepsy via the BMAL1-mTOR-P-gp axis. [PDF]

open access: yesEpilepsia Open
Abstract Objective The interplay between chronic sleep deprivation and drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) has gained increasing attention. Brain and muscle Arnt‐like protein 1 (BMAL1), which is implicated in sleep disturbance, has an unclear role in DRE. We aimed to investigate the role of BMAL1 in sleep deprivation‐induced DRE. Methods A pentylenetetrazole

Effect of Deep Brain Stimulation in The Ventral Tegmental Area on Neuronal Activity in Local and Remote Brain Regions in Kindled Mice [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2023
Objective: The mechanisms behind seizure suppression by deep brain stimulation (DBS) are not fully revealed, andthe most optimal stimulus regimens and anatomical targets are yet to be determined. We investigated the modulatoryeffect of low-frequency DBS (

Dantrolene: A Selective Ryanodine Receptor Antagonist, Protects Against Pentylenetetrazole-Induced Seizure in Mice

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2016
Ryanodine receptor abnormalities has implicated in the generation and maintenance of seizure. Dantrolene, a selective ryanodine receptor antagonist, may be a potential drug for the prevention of seizure.

Acute and Sub-chronic Anticonvulsant Effects of Edaravone on Seizure Induced by Pentylenetetrazole or Electroshock in Mice, Nitric Oxide Involvement [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2023
Background: Edaravone is an anti-stroke medication that may have nitric oxide (NO) modulating properties. This study evaluated the role of NO in the acute and sub-chronic anticonvulsant effects of edaravone in murine models of seizures induced by ...
