Surface-immobilised antimicrobial peptoids [PDF]

open access: yesBiofouling, 2008
Surface modification techniques that create surfaces capable of killing adherent bacteria are promising solutions to infections associated with implantable medical devices. Antimicrobial (AM) peptoid oligomers (ampetoids) that were designed to mimic helical AM peptides were synthesised with a peptoid spacer chain to allow mobility and an adhesive ...

Learning from host-defense peptides: cationic, amphipathic peptoids with potent anticancer activity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Cationic, amphipathic host defense peptides represent a promising group of agents to be developed for anticancer applications. Poly-N-substituted glycines, or peptoids, are a class of biostable, peptidomimetic scaffold that can display a great diversity ...

A Peptoid-Chelator Selective to Cu2+ That Can Extract Copper from Metallothionein-2 and Lead to the Production of ROS

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
Copper is an essential metal ion that is involved in critical cellular processes, but which can also exhibit toxic effects through its ability to catalyze reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation. Dysregulation of copper homeostasis has been implicated in

Cyclic β-Peptoids

open access: yesOrganic Letters, 2008
The first synthesis of functionalized -peptoid macrocycles is reported. X-ray crystallographic structure of tetramer 9 reveals a C2-symmetrical derivative with unexpected all-cis-amide bonds and spatial disposition of the appendages toward the two opposite faces of the ring. Quantum calculations suggest that 9 is locked in this layout.

Triangular prism-shaped β-peptoid helices as unique biomimetic scaffolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
β-Peptoids are peptidomimetics based on N-alkylated β-aminopropionic acid residues (or N-alkyl-β-alanines). This type of peptide mimic has previously been incorporated in biologically active ligands and has been hypothesized to be able to exhibit ...

Novel tetrameric cell penetrating antimicrobial peptoids effective against mycobacteria and drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2022
Background: Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are short, cationic, amphipathic molecules that have gained tremendous popularity as alternatives to traditional antibiotics due to their lower propensity to develop bacterial resistance.

Development of Peptoid-Based Ligands for the Removal of Cadmium from Biological Media. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Cadmium poisoning poses a serious health concern due to cadmiums increasing industrial use, yet there is currently no recommended treatment. The selective coordination of cadmium in a biological environment-i.e.

Exploiting protected maleimides to modify oligonucleotides, peptides and peptide nucleic acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This manuscript reviews the possibilities offered by 2,5-dimethylfuran-protected maleimides. Suitably derivatized building blocks incorporating the exo Diels-Alder cycloadduct can be introduced at any position of oligonucleotides, peptide nucleic acids ...
