Role and Molecular Mechanisms of Pericytes in Regulation of Leukocyte Diapedesis in Inflamed Tissues

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2019
Leukocyte recruitment is a hallmark of the inflammatory response. Migrating leukocytes breach the endothelium along with the vascular basement membrane and associated pericytes.

Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

Exosomes Derived From Pericytes Improve Microcirculation and Protect Blood–Spinal Cord Barrier After Spinal Cord Injury in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
Spinal cord injury (SCI) often leads to severe and permanent paralysis and places a heavy burden on individuals, families, and society. Until now, the therapy of SCI is still a big challenge for the researchers. Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells (

Targeting NRP1 in Endothelial Cells Facilitates the Normalization of Scar Vessels and Prevents Fibrotic Scarring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Scars exhibit vascular abnormal alterations, including upregulated NRP1 expression in endothelial cells, increased vascular density and branching, compromised vessel wall integrity, and incomplete pericyte coverage. Therapeutic targeting of NRP1 through hydrogel spray delivery offers a promising approach to normalize aberrant vasculature and prevent ...

Heterogeneity in pericyte inflammatory responses across age and species highlight the importance of human cell models

open access: yesMolecular Brain
Pericytes in the central nervous system are essential for maintaining blood-brain barrier function, regulating blood flow, modulating immune responses, and interacting closely with surrounding cells of the neurovascular unit to support brain homeostasis.

Research advances of pericytes in renal interstitial fibrosis

open access: yesLinchuang shenzangbing zazhi, 2022
Pericytes are mesenchymal cells in contact with endothelial cells and partially embedded in the basement membrane of blood vessels.Pericytes possess the capability of differentiating and their surface markers change according to different tissues, various

CD168 Identifies Proliferating Pancreatic Islet Cells in Murine and Human

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies CD168 as a conserved surface marker for proliferating β‐cells in mouse, human islets, and pancreatic islet tumors. CD168⁺ cells show high proliferation and low insulin expression. CD168+ cells form mostly uni‐β lineage clones, and some of the clones are multi‐lineage.
