Inhibition of N‐Terminal Acetyltransferase C Mitigates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress–Mediated Muscle Atrophy in Cancer Cachexia

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia is a complex syndrome marked by weight loss and muscle wasting, significantly impacting patient quality of life and survival. Mechanistically, it is characterized by suppressed protein synthesis and enhanced muscle catabolism, with the role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and unfolded protein response (UPR ...

Epigenetic mechanisms and therapeutic innovations in chronic pain‐associated neuropsychiatric co‐morbidities

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 7, Page 1313-1340, April 2026.
Abstract Chronic pain, marked by nociceptive sensitization and maladaptive neuroplasticity, affects 30% of the global population with escalating socioeconomic burdens. Epidemiological data show a 2‐3‐fold increase in neuropsychiatric co‐morbidities among individuals with chronic pain, where epigenetic dysregulation serves as a key mechanism linking ...

Dynamics of Fiscal Habits and Soft Budgets in Federations

open access: yesJournal of Public Economic Theory, Volume 28, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we are motivated by empirical evidence of persistent, implicit or explicit, bailouts in federations from high‐tier (e.g., center) governments to low‐tier (e.g., state) governments. We build a novel dynamic model for a federation containing N ≥ 2 $N\ge 2$ identical regional governments and a central government.

Weight Loss During Obesity Provokes Asparaginase‐Associated Liver Steatosis and Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Lean mice and DIO mice were fed either a low‐fat maintenance diet (MD) or a high‐fat obesogenic diet (OD) during pegylated asparaginase exposure. OD exacerbated asparaginase‐induced weight loss and modestly increased liver triglycerides and ER stress in lean mice.
