Enhancing microRNA167A expression in seed decreases the α-linolenic acid content and increases seed size in Camelina sativa. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Despite well established roles of microRNAs in plant development, few aspects have been addressed to understand their effects in seeds especially on lipid metabolism.

Comparisons of phaseolin type and α-amylase inhibitor in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in China

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2016
The objective of this study was to characterize the phaseolin type and α-amylase (αAI) level in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) accessions deposited in the Chinese National Genebank. The 40 accessions sampled were common varieties originating in Asia,

Identification of ACE-inhibitory peptides from Phaseolus vulgaris after in vitro gastrointestinal digestion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The objective of this study was to identify the angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory peptides released from thermally treated Phaseolus vulgaris (pinto) whole beans after in vitro gastrointestinal digestion. The degree of hydrolysis increased

Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus) seed coat phaseolin is detrimental to the cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus)

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2000
The presence of phaseolin (a vicilin-like 7S storage globulin) peptides in the seed coat of the legume Phaseolus lunatus L. (lima bean) was demonstrated by N-terminal amino acid sequencing.

Genomic analysis of storage protein deficiency in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
A series of genetically related lines of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) integrate a progressive deficiency in major storage proteins, the 7S globulin phaseolin and lectins.

Crystallization of phaseolin from Phaseolus vulgaris.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1983
Three different types of crystals were grown from phaseolin, the major storage body protein from French bean. Type I crystals are cubes with space group symmetry P432, a = 67 A. Type II crystals are bipyramids with a rounded basal plane and belong to space group P2(1)2(1)2, a = 128 A, b = 136 A, and c = 162 A.

Protein and Metalloprotein Distribution in Different Varieties of Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.): Effects of Cooking

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, 2017
Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) are among the main sources of protein and minerals. The cooking of the grains is imperative, due to reduction of the effect of some toxic and antinutritional substances, as well as increase of protein digestibility.

Foliar spraying with bacterial biocontrol agents for the control of common bacterial blight of bean [PDF]

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira, 2018
: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of foliar spraying with bacterial biocontrol agents (BBAs) on the control of common bacterial blight (CBB) of bean, and on the induction of systemic resistance in bean plants.
