Functional parameters of spermatozoa obtained by a new selection device

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study compares density gradient centrifugation and the LensHooke CA0™ device for sperm separation. DGC requires multiple steps, specialized equipment, and technical expertise. In contrast, the CA0 device offers key practical and methodological advantages, resulting in a faster, simpler, and more affordable sperm selection method.

Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Inhibition of Lipoxygenase by Phenolic Compounds

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Pharmacology, 1991
Eugenol dose-dependently inhibited 5-HETE (5-hydroxy-5,8,10, 14-eicosatetraenoic acid) and 15-HETE formation by human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. p-Chlorophenol, guaiacol and phenol also inhibited the lipoxygenases. Formation of HETEs by rat dental pulp was inhibited by eugenol and p-chlorophenol.
