Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

BackgroundBiological age acceleration reflects physiological aging and its link to mortality in HSV-infected adults is unclear.MethodsWe analyzed data from 16,065 HSV-seropositive adults aged 20-59 years from the NHANES 1999-2016 cycles (mean age: 35.4 ±

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive, age-related lung disease with few modifiable risk factors. While healthy dietary patterns have been associated with reduced risk of chronic diseases, their impact on IPF remains unclear ...

Life course circumstances contribute to the acceleration of phenotypic and functional aging in Chinese middle-aged and older adults [PDF]
Abstract Accelerated aging implies health inequalities in late life and consequently, poses a huge challenge to society. With two well-validated aging measures, this study aimed to evaluate the relative contributions of life course circumstances to variance in these aging measures with policy implications.

This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Biological age may be more accurate than chronological age in determining chronic health outcomes. However, few studies have shown the association between biological age and acute ischemic stroke (AIS). In this study we showed the association between phenotypic age (PhenoAge) or accelerated aging and severity and disability in patients with AIS ...

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dietary diversity contributes to delay biological aging
AimsAs aging is a major risk factor for chronic diseases, strategies to promote healthy aging are essential. Dietary diversity has been reported to be beneficial for human health, however, the role in the biological aging process remains underexplored ...
