The proteomic differences and expression of fatty acid‐binding protein 6 (FABP6) associated with gastrointestinal injury in horses with oral administration of a clinical dose of phenylbutazone

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 3, Page 845-856, May 2026.
Abstract Background Phenylbutazone (PBZ) can potentially induce gastrointestinal ulceration, and early detection of PBZ‐induced gastroenteropathy will be useful for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of PBZ toxicity. Objectives To identify putative proteins associated with equine gastric ulcer syndrome after clinical dose (4.4 mg/kg ...

LAT1/SLC7A5‐mediated amino acid uptake is regulated by redox signals triggered by formyl‐peptide receptor 2

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 9, Page 2637-2655, May 2026.
FPR2 activation mediates NOX‐dependent LAT1 expression and, in turn, promotes mTORC1 signaling. Upon stimulation with WKYMVm, the FPR2‐NOX2‐ROS axis upregulates LAT1 via increased c‐Myc phosphorylation and decreased miR‐126. Additionally, it promotes CD98 translocation to the plasma membrane.

Quantification and Localisation of New Brain Lipid Synthesis Using Deuterium Oxide and High Resolution Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
Liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging were used in combination with deuterium oxide administration to quantify and localise newly synthesised myelin lipids in the mouse brain. This methodology, used here to show sites of myelin repair, enables the measurement of dynamic lipid synthesis in living systems and ...

Adipose Triglyceride Lipase and Gpr40 Contribute to the Anti‐Contractile Effect of Perivascular Adipose Tissue

open access: yesMicrocirculation, Volume 33, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) surrounds most peripheral blood vessels and exerts an anti‐contractile influence through paracrine mediators. Although numerous vasoactive factors have been identified, the mechanisms linking adipocyte metabolism to PVAT‐dependent modulation of vascular tone remain poorly defined. Because adipocytes

Ustilago maydis Phosphatidic Acid and Phosphatidylserine‐Targeting Secreted Lipase Lip3 Is Involved in Pathogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Ustilago maydis secreted lipase, Lip3 targets PA and PS and alkalinises the host apoplast, thus promoting virulence. Loss of Lip3 results in reduced apoplastic pH and decreased pathogenicity. ABSTRACT Lipases constitute important virulence factors. By targeting specific lipids involved in various cellular processes, lipases regulate growth, development,
