Genetic Determinants of Interindividual Differences in Provitamin A Carotenoid Concentrations in Human Adipose Tissue

Periumbilical adipose tissue provitamin A carotenoids (proVA CAR) were quantified in 43 healthy adult males to investigate genetic factors associated with their tissue concentrations. β‐Carotene was the most abundant adipose tissue proVA CAR, followed by α‐carotene and β‐cryptoxanthin, with marked interindividual variability.
