Aloe vera in Food Preservation: Harnessing Bioactive Constituents for Clean‐Label Innovation and Safety Assurance

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Aloe vera‐derived biopolymers and nanoformulations enhance antimicrobial, antioxidant, and barrier functions in clean‐label edible coatings and films, whereas safety‐critical anthraquinone thresholds and regulatory constraints shape their translational potential.

‘Golden Hills’ Pistachio [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 2007
‘Golden Hills’ is a new female pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) cultivar released by the California Agricultural Experiment Station in 2005. The nuts mature uniformly and are harvested 2–4 weeks earlier than ‘Kerman’. In-shell nut yields in the first 4 years are equal to those of ‘Kerman’, but the percentage of edible split nuts is higher.

Contrasting Patterns of Old Pistachio Tree Features in the Central Zagros Forests

open access: yesForestist
Intra-specific variability in morphological traits of old trees might be present in different forest types because forest stand purity seems to affect the morphology of old pistachio trees. This study was performed in the old-growth forests of the Zagros

Determination of digestible indispensable amino acid score for salmon hydrolysate proteins

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Salmon products are excellent foods that contain indispensable nutrients including fatty acids and amino acids (AA), but during processing, salmon co‐products that cannot be used for the primary purpose are also generated. Examples of such co‐products include salmon protein hydrolysate concentrate (SPHC) and salmon protein ...

Host phenology‐driven infestation patterns of the carob moth (Ectomyelois ceratoniae) in Mediterranean walnut orchards: insights from comparison with codling moth (Cydia pomonella)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
In Mediterranean walnut orchards, Ectomyelois ceratoniae replaces Cydia pomonella as the primary pest. Capture peaks between packing tissue brown (PTB) stage and husk dehiscence define a critical window for monitoring and early harvest to prevent kernel infestation.
