Based on whole‐genome resequencing, we determined that the freshwater‐resident form (C. nasus taihuensis) is an ecotype of anadromous Coilia nasus, not a distinct subspecies. The two ecotypes diverged approximately 4.6 thousand years ago, coinciding with the formation of Tai Lake.

Plectin is a regulator of prostate cancer growth and metastasis
Prostate cancer is responsible for over 30,000 US deaths annually, attributed largely to incurable metastatic disease. Here, we demonstrate that high levels of plectin are associated with localized and metastatic human prostate cancer when compared to benign prostate tissues.

The structure of the plakin domain of plectin reveals an extended rod-like shape
Plakins are large multi-domain proteins that interconnect cytoskeletal structures. Plectin is a prototypical plakin that tethers intermediate filaments to membrane-associated complexes.

ABSTRACT Background Mutations in the desmin gene cause skeletal myopathies and cardiomyopathies. The objective of this study was to elucidate the molecular pathology induced by the expression of R405W mutant desmin in murine skeletal muscle. Methods A comprehensive characterization of the skeletal muscle pathology in hetero‐ and homozygous R405W desmin

Clinical and immunopathological spectrum of immunoglobulin M pemphigoid: a multicenter case series
Summary Background and Objectives Pemphigoid diseases are primarily mediated by IgG or IgA autoantibodies against the cutaneous basement membrane zone (BMZ). Although recent observations suggest the existence of exclusively IgM‐mediated pemphigoid disease, a larger study is lacking.

PKD2 and RSK1 Regulate Integrin β4 Phosphorylation at Threonine 1736.
The integrin α6β4, a major component of hemidesmosomes (HDs), stabilizes keratinocyte cell adhesion to the epidermal basement membrane through binding to the cytoskeletal linker protein plectin and association with keratin filaments.
