Telomere Length Is Determined by Intrinsic Factors and Is Shortened During Drought Years in Gallotia galloti

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Telomere dynamics in ectotherms remain poorly understood relative to endotherms, yet are increasingly relevant in the context of climate change. Here, we used model‐averaged GLMMs and hierarchical partitioning to disentangle intrinsic and extrinsic drivers of relative telomere length in the Western‐Canaries Lizard (Gallotia galloti) across a 10‐year ...

Unfavourable H‐CDR3 Loops in preB Cells Lead to Highly Expanded Plasma Cell Clones

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 5, May 2026.
In the absence of a pre‐BCR, a subset of mature B cells that expresses IgH chains with very short, hydrophobic and positively charged H‐CDR3 loops is generated. This results in massive clonal expansion and the development of autoreactive plasma cells exhibiting these characteristics.

Detection of Toxic Gases and Volatile Organic Compounds Using Highly Adsorptive Nanomaterials: A Comprehensive Assessment

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review highlights how nanomaterials with high adsorption capacities including carbon‐based structures, transition metal oxides, 2D layers, and zeolites enable sensitive and selective detection of toxic gases and VOCs. Their tailored properties and sensing mechanisms drive the development of next‐generation gas sensors for environmental and ...

The 10–23 DNAzyme in Biosensing and Diagnostics: Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
This review focuses on the 10–23 DNAzyme in diagnostics, spanning unregulated and regulated target‐recognition modes, and their functionalization across colorimetric, fluorescent, electrochemical, electrochemiluminescent, and intracellular biosensing strategies.

National and Subnational Models of Care That Support Primary Health Care: A Mixed‐Methods Study

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 490-506, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In 2020, the World Health Assembly called on countries to reorient their models of care (MOCs) toward primary health care (PHC). This study's objectives were to (a) describe common use of the concept of MOC; and (b) identify implemented MOCs and their components that support PHC at national and subnational levels. A scoping review charted data
