A pncA polymorphism to differentiate between Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Probes, 2004
The pyrazinamidase gene coding for the enzyme that activates the bactericidal drug pyrazinamide contains a polymorphic site that is preserved in Mycobacterium bovis. We synthesized two sets of primers, one encompassing a 180 bp fragment, and the second spanning a 726 bp fragment including the full pncA gene.

Associations between Perceived Social Eating Norms and Initiation and Maintenance of Changes in Dietary Habits during the First COVID-19 Lockdown in France

open access: yesFoods, 2021
Changes in dietary habits of the French population have been reported during the national lockdown that was enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigated whether perceived social eating norms were associated with the initiation and ...

Whole-genome sequencing for prediction of Mycobacterium tuberculosis drug susceptibility and resistance: a retrospective cohort study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background Diagnosing drug-resistance remains an obstacle to the elimination of tuberculosis. Phenotypic drug-susceptibility testing is slow and expensive, and commercial genotypic assays screen only common resistance-determining mutations. We used whole-

The Riemerella anatipestifer AS87_01735 Gene Encodes Nicotinamidase PncA, an Important Virulence Factor [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2016
ABSTRACT Riemerella anatipestifer is a major bacterial pathogen that causes septicemic and exudative diseases in domestic ducks. In our previous study, we found that deletion of the AS87_01735 gene significantly decreased the bacterial virulence of R.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis Pyrazinamide Resistance Determinants: a Multicenter Study

open access: yesmBio, 2014
Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a prodrug that is converted to pyrazinoic acid by the enzyme pyrazinamidase, encoded by the pncA gene in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Combined species identification, genotyping, and drug resistance detection of mycobacterium tuberculosis cultures by mlpa on a bead-based array [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The population structure of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is typically clonal therefore genotypic lineages can be unequivocally identified by characteristic markers such as mutations or genomic deletions.
