Source attribution figure for human and dogs Brucella canis infections. ABSTRACT We report a rare occurrence of genetic material from both Brucella canis and B. melitensis detected in a domesticated dog from Jiangsu Province, China. The detection was confirmed through serological assays, quantitative PCR (qPCR), metagenomic and genomic sequencing ...

Table_3_Ceftazidime/avibactam Improves the Antibacterial Efficacy of Polymyxin B Against Polymyxin B Heteroresistant KPC-2-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae and Hinders Emergence of Resistant Subpopulation in vitro.docx [PDF]
Due to the increasing multidrug resistance and limited antibiotics, polymyxin B revived as the last resort for the treatment of carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP).

The antibacterial activity of peptide dendrimers and polymyxin B increases sharply above pH 7.4 [PDF]
pH-activity profiling reveals that antimicrobial peptide dendrimers (AMPDs) kill Klebsiella pneumoniae and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at pH = 8.0, against which they are inactive at pH = 7.4, due to stronger electrostatic binding ...

Polymyxin B-induced skin and nail hyperpigmentation in an adult
Polymyxin B is a reserve drug for resistant gram-negative bacterial infections. A rare side effect of polymyxin B is cutaneous hyperpigmentation, which characteristically involves face and neck. This is commonly reported in pediatric population.

Antimicrobial Cyclic Peptidomimetics
Singular macromolecular cationic, amphipathic cyclic peptidomimetics with poly(2‐oxazoline)s‐esque backbone structure that undergo self‐assembly in water to form uniform nanoparticles were developed. The cyclic peptidomimetics, which act on bacterial cell membranes, exhibit hydrophobic‐dependent antimicrobial activity and toxicity.

Background Although the most widely accepted mechanism of action for polymyxins is related to bacterial lysis via disruption, we hypothesized that this antimicrobial drug class could have other effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa planktonic and sessile ...

Through network pharmacology and molecular docking, it has been discovered that CA can target MAOB, among other proteins, to exert a therapeutic effect in IBS. In vivo, CA lowered visceral hypersensitivity, anxiety and depression‐like behaviors, and fecal water content, highlighting its therapeutic potential for IBS via anti‐inflammatory pathways ...

Polymyxin B inhibits contraction-stimulated glucose uptake in rat skeletal muscle [PDF]
Glucose transport in muscle is activated by contractile activity, an effect that persists in the postexercise state. Polymyxin B, a cyclic decapeptide antibiotic, inhibits the stimulation of glucose uptake in isolated muscle by contractile activity but ...
