Evaluation of the Transfer and Occurrence of Opium Alkaloids in Poppy Seed Teas Using Preconcentrations with µSPEed® Followed by GC-MS Analysis

open access: yesChemosensors, 2023
Intoxication due to the consumption of poppy seed teas has been reported due to their contamination with opium alkaloids (OAs). In this work, an efficient methodology based on microsolid-phase extraction (µSPEed®) followed by gas chromatography–mass ...

MECHANICS OF POPPY SEEDS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2002
ABSTRACT Poppy seeds of four varieties (Lazur, Opal, Przemko, and Albin) were compressed between two rigid plates at constant deformation rate 0.0167 mm per second. The experiments were performed with the stored seeds, but blue varieties Lazur, Opal, and Przemko were tested also at the harvest and pre-harvest stages of maturity.

Fendioxypyracil, a new and systemic PPO‐inhibiting herbicide for X‐spectrum weed control

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract presents the discovery and synthesis of PPO herbicide structures with a central pyridine core, showing molecular conformations, dose–response inhibition curves for PPO1 and PPO2, and comparative weed and grass control efficacy of fendioxypyracil versus other herbicides in greenhouse and field trials.

The limits of mean-field heterozygosity estimates under spatial extension in simulated plant populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Computational models of evolutionary processes are increasingly required to incorporate multiple and diverse sources of data. A popular feature to include in population genetics models is spatial extension, which reflects more accurately natural ...

Art v 1 and Amb a 4 Co‐Sensitization Identifies Italian Patients at Risk for Mugwort‐Celery‐Spice Syndrome

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Three molecular profiles identified among Art v 1/Amb a 4‐sensitized patients: Art v 1 monosensitization, Amb a 4 monosensitization, and dual sensitization to both allergens. Art v 1 monosensitization was predominantly associated with allergic rhinitis, reflecting a classical airborne allergy pattern.

Results of trials with poppy seed (Papaver somniferum) in organic and integrated production technology. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The influence of organic and integrated management practices on poppy yield, pests and disease incidence was assessed in field trials in 2009. Crop management based on mineral fertilisers application and chemosynthetic pesticides treatment significantly

Frequency and Severity of Allergic Reactions to Non‐Mandatory Labelled Allergenic Foods—Data From Two Large European Cohorts

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
In two large European cohorts, 589 reactions to non‐mandatory labelled plant‐based foods were identified with sunflower seed, pine nut, pea and lentil as the most frequent triggers. Reaction severity was not different between mandatory and non‐mandatory labelled allergenic foods. Their frequency and rising trends (e.g., fenugreek, pumpkin seed) support

Investigation of γ-irradiation effects on physicochemical characteristics, fatty acid and sterol profiles of three different poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) seed varieties

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites
In this study, the impacts of γ-irradiation processing on the proximate composition, color parameters (L*, a*, b*), fatty acid and sterol compositions of poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) seeds were determined.
