Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.

Physiological responses of a halophytic shrub to salt stress by Na2SO4 and NaCl: oxidative damage and the role of polyphenols in antioxidant protection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Salt stress conditions lead to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in plant cells. Halophytes have the ability to reduce these toxic ROS by means of a powerful antioxidant system that includes enzymatic and non-enzymatic components.

UV‐B Responsive Flavonoid Synthesis Contributes to Tartary Buckwheat High‐Altitude Adaption

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT High‐altitude environments expose plants to increased levels of UV‐B radiation, necessitating the evolution of protective mechanisms to mitigate stress. Buckwheat is a flavonoid‐rich pseudocereal naturally adapted to high‐altitude environments with elevated UV‐B exposure.

Metabolomics and Transcriptomic Analysis Revealed the Response Mechanism of Maize to Saline‐Alkali Stress

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Saline‐alkali stress inhibited the normal growth and development of plants, which seriously restricted the yield of crops. Maize is one of the most important crops in the world. However, the mechanism of maize in response to saline‐alkali stress is still largely unknown.

Aquilaria sinensis MYB‐Like Transcription Factor AsMYB1 Promotes 2‐(2‐Phenylethyl)Chromone Biosynthesis Through Interacting With 14‐3‐3 Family Protein AsGRF1

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT 2‐(2‐Phenylethyl)chromones (PECs) are the primary constituents of agarwood, a valuable aromatic resin widely used in traditional oriental medicine and incense production, exhibiting diverse pharmacological activities. While we have previously reported a polyketide synthase (AsPECPS) playing a crucial role in the biosynthesis of PECs in ...

Genetic Regulation of Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Cornus Species: The Roles of R2R3-MYB Transcription Factors. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Direct
ABSTRACT Flowering dogwood (Cornus florida L.) and Asian dogwood (Cornus kousa F. Buerger ex Hance) are popular deciduous ornamental trees native to a wide range of the eastern and southeastern United States and East Asia, respectively. Anthocyanin pigments enhance desirable pink or dark red colored bracts in dogwoods. Although anthocyanin biosynthesis
