Pigs were infected with the porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome virus (PRRSV) by the oronasal route. We studied the development of histological lesions, sites of virus infection and of inflammatory infiltrates by quantitative evaluation of reactive cells. The animals developed a multifocal interstitial pneumonia.
