Exploration of Fluorinated Pyrazolidine‐3,5‐Diones for Positron Emission Tomography Imaging of the P2Y12 Receptor in the Central Nervous System

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Fluorinated pyrazolidine‐3,5‐dione derivatives are developed with the aim to find a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer candidate for imaging of the P2Y12 receptor. All compounds show nanomolar affinity. One compound is radiolabeled with 18F and used in PET imaging studies, revealing rapid metabolism and limited brain uptake.

Purinergic receptors in neurogenic processes

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin, 2019
Neurogenesis is a process of generating functional neurons, which occurs during embryonic and adult stages in mammals. While neurogenesis during development phase is characterized by intensive proliferation activity in all regions of the brain to form the architecture and neural function of the nervous system, adult neurogenesis occurs with less ...

mGluR1 receptors contribute to non-purinergic slow excitatory transmission to submucosal VIP neurons of guinea-pig ileum

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2009
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) immunoreactive secretomotor neurons in the submucous plexus are involved in mediating bacterial toxin-induced hypersecretion leading to diarrhoea.

Aspirin-dependent effects on purinergic P2Y1 receptor express [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Chronic treatment with aspirin in healthy volunteers (HVs) is associated with recovery of adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-induced platelet activation. The purinergic P2Y1 receptor exerts its effects via a Gq-protein, which is the same biochemical pathway ...

Involvement of the P2X7 Purinergic Receptor in Colonic Motor Dysfunction Associated with Bowel Inflammation in Rats

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Background and Purpose Recent evidence indicates an involvement of P2X7 purinergic receptor (P2X7R) in the fine tuning of immune functions, as well as in driving enteric neuron apoptosis under intestinal inflammation.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

P2Y2 purinergic receptor activation is essential for efficient hepatocyte proliferation in response to partial hepatectomy.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology - Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 2014
Extracellular nucleotides via activation of P2 purinergic receptors influence hepatocyte proliferation and liver regeneration in response to 70% partial hepatectomy (PH).

A polycystin-type transient receptor potential (Trp) channel that is activated by ATP

open access: yesBiology Open, 2017
ATP and ADP are ancient extra-cellular signalling molecules that in Dictyostelium amoebae cause rapid, transient increases in cytosolic calcium due to an influx through the plasma membrane.

ER localized bestrophin1 activates Ca2+ dependent ion channels TMEM16A and SK4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Bestrophins form Ca2+ activated Cl- channels and regulate intercellular Ca2+ signaling1. We demonstrate that bestrophin 1 is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where it physically interacts with stromal interacting molecule 1 (Stim1), the ER ...

Genetic and pharmacological inactivation of the purinergic P2RX7 receptor dampens inflammation but increases tumor incidence in a mouse model of colitis-associated cancer.

open access: yesCancer Research, 2015
Colitis-associated cancer (CAC) is a complication of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Binding of extracellular ATP to the purinergic receptor P2RX7 has emerged as a critical event in controlling intestinal inflammation, acting to limit elevation of ...
