Isonitrile-responsive and bioorthogonally removable tetrazine protecting groups. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In vivo compatible reactions have a broad range of possible applications in chemical biology and the pharmaceutical sciences. Here we report tetrazines that can be removed by exposure to isonitriles under very mild conditions.

Absorbate-Induced Piezochromism in a Porous Molecular Crystal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Atmospherically stable porous frameworks and materials are interesting for heterogeneous solid–gas applications. One motivation is the direct and selective uptake of pollutant/hazardous gases, where the material produces a measurable response in the ...

An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.

Oxidoperoxidomolybdenum(VI) complexes with acylpyrazolonate ligands: synthesis, structure and catalytic properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Oxidoperoxido–molybdenum(VI) complexes containing acylpyrazolonate ligands were obtained by reaction of [Mo(O)(O)2(H2O)n] with the corresponding acylpyrazolone compounds HQR.

Characterization of the pattern of development of key compounds contributing to aroma quality of chicken meat and their metabolic markers

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows the principal results of this study. Eight major aroma‐contributing compounds (nonanal, octanal, dimethyl tetrasulfide, hexanal, 1‐octen‐3‐ol, (E)‐2‐nonenal, heptanal, and (E,E)‐2,4‐decadienal) were identified by electronic nose and GC‐O‐MS analysis, and their content increased with age.

Preparation of multiblock copolymers via step-wise addition of l-lactide and trimethylene carbonate. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Poly(l-lactide) (PLA) is a bioderived and biodegradable polymer that has limited applications due to its hard and brittle nature. Incorporation of 1,3-trimethylene carbonate into PLA, in a block copolymer fashion, improves the mechanical properties ...

Pharmacology and relevant drug interactions of metamizole

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Metamizole is a frequently prescribed analgesic because of its favourable benefit/risk ratio compared with classic NSAIDs. However, increasing research shows that metamizole displays several drug interactions that are relevant to clinical practice. We reviewed the literature to summarize the pharmacology and most clinically relevant drug interactions ...

Faecal leukocyte esterase activity is an alternative biomarker in inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Leukocyte cytosolic proteins (e.g., calprotectin) are emerging biomarkers for inflammatory bowel disease. Leukocyte aryl esterase activity has been commonly used for sensitive detection of leukocytes in human body fluids such as urine.

A Polyproline type II Peptidomimetic Disrupts a Grb2 SH3C Domain Protein‐protein Interaction Implicated in Breast Cancer

open access: yesChemBioChem, Accepted Article.
Given the essential role of protein‐protein interactions (PPIs) in cellular signalling pathways their selective modulation is of great therapeutic interest. Mimicry of secondary structural protein elements has emerged as a promising strategy, with various scaffolds reproducing recognition surfaces of α‐helical and β‐strand/sheet proteins.

Synthesis of the isoquinoline alkaloid, crispine C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The first total synthesis of the isoquinoline alkaloid, crispine C is described in seven steps using a Henry reaction and the Pictet–Gams variant of the Bischler–Napieralski reaction to effect the key ...
