Enantioselective Synthesis of Lactic Acid From CO2 Using a Novel Pyruvate Decarboxylase in a Scalable Biocatalytic Cascade

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
We report a scalable biocatalytic cascade that converts CO2 and acetaldehyde to pyruvate via a newly characterized pyruvate decarboxylase, followed by stereoselective reduction to lactic acid. The system enables fully switchable enantioselectivity using either L‐ or D‐lactate dehydrogenases.

Blue light impairs the repair of UVB-induced pyrimidine dimers in a human skin model

open access: yes
International audienceIn recent years, interest is growing in the biological cutaneous effects of high‐energy visible light (400–450 nm). In the present study, we explored the impact of blue light (BL) on the repair of pyrimidine dimers, the major class ...

Are pyrimidine dimers tolerated during DNA replication of UV-irradiated parvovirus Minute-Virus-of-Mice in mouse fibroblasts?

open access: yes, 1982
The replication of the single-stranded DNA of parvovirus Minute-Virus-of-Mice (MVM) was depressed when virus was exposed to UV-light prior to infection of mouse fibroblasts.

Molecular Design and Interfacial Functions of Self‐Assembled Monolayers for Perovskite and Tandem Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 16, Issue 23, 17 June 2026.
We identify two decisive levers for SAM interfaces: molecular design (carboxylic acid‐based, phosphonic acid, other anchoring chemistries, and polymeric SAMs) and mixing routes (co‐assembly, in situ assembly, pre‐ and post‐treatment). Coordinated tuning of headgroups and assembly pathways optimises energy alignment and film formation, suppresses ...

Specific alignment of nucleosomes on DNA correlates with periodic distribution of purine—pyrimidine and pyrimidine—purine dimers

open access: yes, 1983
Comparison of the X-ray data and results of conformational analysis reveals the sequence-dependent helical anisotropy of DNA: purine—pyrimidine (RY) and pyrmidine—purine (YR) dimers prefer bending in the opposite directions. On this basis it is suggested

Light‐Driven [2 + 2] Cycloaddition Strategies for the Synthesis of Cyclobuta[b]indoles and Their Derivatives

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review surveys the literature on light‐driven dearomative [2+2] cycloadditions of indoles, highlighting their power to access complex cyclobuta[b]indole frameworks. Advances in photocatalysis, sensitizer design, and reaction engineering enable selective and sustainable assembly of strained three‐dimensional architectures, expanding opportunities ...

Nonthermal Food Processing Technologies: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 124-141, June 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates the shift from traditional thermal food preservation methods to advanced nonthermal technologies. Traditional methods, represented by heating, often compromise the nutritional and sensory quality of foods. In contrast, nonthermal approaches such as high‐pressure processing (HPP), pulsed electric field (PEF ...
