Microbial Production of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1984
The possibility of preparing pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), a novel coenzyme, by a microbial method was proposed for the first time. PQQwas formed and accumulated in the culture mediumof various microorganisms. Of the tested strains, somemethylotrophs were most favorable for PQQ production and more than 10μg/ml ofPQQ was found in the culture ...

Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Regulates Enteric Neurochemical Plasticity of Weaned Rats Challenged With Lipopolysaccharide

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
The enteric nervous system (ENS) is important for the intestinal barrier to defend and regulate inflammation in the intestine. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) on regulating neuropeptide secretion by ...

Mutants of Escherichia coli producing pyrroloquinoline quinone [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1991
In glucose minimal medium a PTS- strain of Escherichia coli [delta (ptsH ptsI crr)] could grow slowly (doubling time, d = 10 h). When the population reached 5 x 10(6) to 2 x 10(7) cells ml-1, mutants growing rapidly (d = 1.5 h) appeared and rapidly outgrew the initial population.

Engineering thermal stability and solvent tolerance of the soluble quinoprotein PedE from Pseudomonas putida KT2440 with a heterologous whole-cell screening approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Due to their ability for direct electron transfer to electrodes, the utilization of rare earth metals as cofactor, and their periplasmic localization, pyrroloquinoline quinone‐dependent alcohol dehydrogenases (PQQ‐ADHs) represent an interesting class of ...

Levels of pyrroloquinoline quinone in various foods [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1995
The levels of free pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) in various foods were examined by the use of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. PQQ was extracted from the samples, after addition of [U-13C]PQQ as internal standard, with n-butanol and Sep-Pak C18 cartridges.

Pyrroloquinoline-Quinone Is More Than an Antioxidant: A Vitamin-like Accessory Factor Important in Health and Disease Prevention

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2021
Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) is associated with biological processes such as mitochondriogenesis, reproduction, growth, and aging. In addition, PQQ attenuates clinically relevant dysfunctions (e.g., those associated with ischemia, inflammation and ...
