Quebracho Tannin Bio-Based Adhesives for Plywood [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers, 2022
Wood-based products are traditionally bonded with synthetic adhesives. Resources availability and ecological concerns have drawn attention to bio-based sources. The use of tannin-based adhesives for engineered wood products has been known for decades, however, these formulations were hardly used for the gluing of solid wood because their rigidity ...

Review: Chestnut and quebracho tannins in pig nutrition: the effects on performance and intestinal health

open access: yesAnimal, 2021
Natural extracts are frequently adopted as a valuable alternative to antibiotics in intensive animal farming. Their diverse bioactive constituents such as phytosterols, glucosinolates, carotenoids and polyphenols have shown antioxidant, anti-inflammatory

Dietary inclusion of Quebracho (Schinopsis lorentzii) tannins on productive performances of growing pheasant females [PDF]

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Tannins are a group of phenolic compounds which have received a lot of attention with respect to their possible nutritional and physiological actions. Tannins can be grouped into condensed and hydrolysable tannins, widely distributed in the plant kingdom.

Characterisation and tanning effects of purified chestnut and sulfited quebracho extracts [PDF]

open access: yesCollagen and Leather
Vegetable tannins are environmentally friendly tanning agents. However, they generally impart a dark colour to the tanned leather and highly contribute to the organic load in wastewaters.

Tannins and copper sulphate as antimicrobial agents to prevent contamination of Posidonia oceanica seedling culture for restoration purposes [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Seed-based restoration methods are increasingly recognized as a relevant tool contributing to halt and reverse the loss of seagrass meadows while providing genetic and evolutionary benefit for the conservation of these habitats. Ad-hoc protocols aimed at

Limited effects of tannin supplementation on the dairy cattle fecal microbiome with modulation of metabolites [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Tannins are plant secondary metabolites that bind organic carbon (C) and nitrogen (N), potentially altering substrate bioavailability for enteric fermentation in ruminants. This interaction may reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and influence nitrogen

Tannin Phytocomplex Improves IBS-D Symptoms and Gut-Brain Markers: Prospective Pilot Study. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Nutr Food Res
In adults with IBS‐D, a 60‐day tannin‐based supplementation was associated with improvements in gastrointestinal scores, stool patterns, and psychological measures. Mechanistic readouts showed lower zonulin, SCFA shifts toward butyrate, and normalization of hydrogen breath tests, supporting a broad, barrier, and microbiota‐oriented intervention profile.
