Abstract A mouse model of HIV‐associated atherosclerosis (Tg26+/−ApoE−/−) exhibited increased plaque area compared with the ApoE−/− mouse, linked to elevated indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase (IDO) activity. IDO catalyses the conversion of tryptophan (TRP) into kynurenine (KYN), measured by the KYN‐to‐TRP ratio.

Modulation of Enzyme Activity in the Kynurenine Pathway by Kynurenine Monooxygenase Inhibition
The kynurenine pathway is the major route for tryptophan metabolism in mammals. Several of the metabolites in the kynurenine pathway, however, are potentially toxic, particularly 3-hydroxykynurenine, 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, and quinolinic acid ...

ABSTRACT Background and Aims The Crohn's disease (CD) exclusion diet (CDED) is an established treatment for active CD with a growing body of evidence supporting its use across diverse populations and disease phenotypes. Particularly effective in mild‐to‐moderate cases, CDED is recognized by clinical guidelines including ESPEN, AGA and ECCO nutritional ...

Quinoline-2-carbonitrile–fumaric acid (1/0.5) [PDF]

Elevating Circulating L‐Kynurenine Promotes Frailty in Aging Mice
ABSTRACT Background L‐Kynurenine (L‐Kyn), a product of tryptophan catabolism, increases with age and has been associated with reduced physical function and increased frailty in humans. Robustly expressed in skeletal muscle, kynurenine aminotransferases (KATs) degrade L‐Kyn into kynurenic acid and are regulated by the transcriptional co‐regulator ...

Tryptophan is an essential dietary amino acid that is necessary for protein synthesis, but also serves as the precursor for serotonin. However, in addition to these biological functions, tryptophan also serves as a precursor for the kynurenine pathway ...

Can IDO activity predict primary resistance to anti-PD-1 treatment in NSCLC?
Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors have revolutionized the treatment paradigm of highly lethal malignancies like advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), demonstrating long-term tumour control and extended patient survival.

TSPO: kaleidoscopic 18-kDa amid biochemical pharmacology, control and targeting of mitochondria [PDF]
The 18-kDa translocator protein (TSPO) localizes in the outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM) of cells and is readily up-regulated under various pathological conditions such as cancer, inflammation, mechanical lesions and neurological diseases. Able to bind
