A Comprehensive Review of Non-Covalent Radiofluorination Approaches Using Aluminum [18F]fluoride: Will [18F]AlF Replace 68Ga for Metal Chelate Labeling?

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Due to its ideal physical properties, fluorine-18 turns out to be a key radionuclide for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, for both preclinical and clinical applications.

Untersuchungen zur trägerarmen Radiofluorierung nicht-aktivierter Aromaten mit n.c.a. [18F]Fluorid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In vivo imaging with positron emission tomography generally demands radiotracers with a high specific activity. In case of fluorine-18 the required no-carrier-added (n.c.a.) starting material is only available in form of fluoride. This and the short half-

Electrochemically Generated Carbocations in Organic Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 44, October 24, 2024.
This Minireview examines a selection of case studies that showcase distinctive and enabling electrochemical approaches that have allowed for the generation and reaction of carbocation intermediates under mild conditions. Particular emphasis is placed on the progress that has been made in this area of organic synthesis and polymer chemistry over the ...

Solid-phase supported direct 18F-radiofluorination of peptides [PDF]

open access: yesBioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters
The absence of universal and expedient labeling procedures hampers the widespread application of peptides as molecular tracers for positron emission tomography (PET). In this work, we have developed a proof-of-concept direct radiofluorination procedure for peptides using conventional solid-phase peptide synthesis.

Preparation and Structure of Meta‐Hydroxy‐Substituted Aryliodonium Salts: New Structural Type of Phenol‐Derived Hypervalent Iodine Compounds

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 5, 7 February 2026.
The previously unknown meta‐hydroxy‐substituted aryliodonium salts were prepared by a two‐step one‐pot synthesis from 3‐acetoxy‐1‐[(diacetoxy)iodo]arenes and arylboronic acids. This procedure works well with halogen‐, methyl‐, methoxycarbonyl‐, or methoxy‐substituted arylboronic acids as well as naphthalenylboronic acids, phenanthren‐9‐ylboronic acid ...

Imaging Microglial/Macrophage Activation in Spinal Cords of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis Rats by Positron Emission Tomography Using the Mitochondrial 18kDa Translocator Protein Radioligand [18F]DPA-714 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the CNS. Activated microglia/macrophages play a key role in the immunopathogenesis of MS and its corresponding animal models, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE).

18F‐Radiopharmaceutical Diversification Enabled by Deaminative Cross‐Electrophile Couplings

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 4, 22 January 2026.
A general Ni‐mediated (C)sp2–(C)sp3 cross‐coupling expedites access to 18F‐radiopharmaceuticals, essential for positron emission tomography imaging and drug discovery. This late‐stage diversification approach was implemented across three user‐friendly automated protocols affording 18F‐radiotracers in sufficient quantities for imaging.
