Oxidation degree of soybean oil at induction time point under Rancimat test condition: Theoretical derivation and experimental observation

Food Research International, 2019
Indices including conductivity, short-chain carboxylic acids, total polar material, acid value, peroxide value and fatty acid composition in water or oil were monitored during Rancimat test of soybean oil from 90 °C to 120 °C. Formic, acetic, propionic and butyric acids in water were detected by ion chromatography.

RANCIMAT TEST FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF USED FRYING OILS QUALITY

Journal of Food Lipids, 2007
ABSTRACT The oxidative/oil stability index (OSI) of the frying oils decreased exponentially during the frying process. The slope of the linear equation obtained from the plotting of the logarithms of OSIs versus frying times, which was considered to be a measure of the rate of OSI decrease during the frying process, was significantly different for the ...

Rancimat vs. rapid small scale oxidation test (RSSOT) correlation analysis, based on a comprehensive study of literature

Fuel, 2021
Abstract Due to the fact that modern diesel engines require very well-defined fuel properties to ensure high efficiency, low emissions and a long durability, the fuel properties and their determination methods have to be standardized. Most diesel fuel standards allow a certain volume fraction of biodiesel that can be blended to fossil diesel fuel ...

Carboxylic acid emissions from soybean biodiesel oxidation in the EN14112 (Rancimat) stability test

Fuel, 2016
Abstract Nine carboxylic acids (formic, acetic, propionic, butyric, succinic, oxalic, lactic, pyruvic and citric) and six inorganic ions (sodium, potassium, ammonium, chloride, nitrate and phosphate) have been measured by ion chromatography during soy biodiesel oxidation carried out according to the EN14112 oxidative stability test.

Oxidative stability of crude oils relative to tocol content from eight oat cultivars: Comparing the Schaal oven and Rancimat tests

Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, 2023
Oats are a good source of oil containing polyunsaturated fatty acids and natural antioxidants such as tocols. This study investigated tocol composition relative to oxidative stability in crude oils from eight oat cultivars. Tocol content in the cultivars was as follows: Santini > Saul > Korok > Atego > Kamil > Patrik > Oliver > Marco Polo.

Quantitation of Aging Products Formed in Biodiesel during the Rancimat Accelerated Oxidation Test

Energy & Fuels, 2014
Biodiesel (rapeseed oil methyl ester) was aged in a Rancimat device at a temperature of 110 °C and an air flow of 10 L/h. Time-resolved analyses applying gas chromatography–flame ionization detection, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, and ion-exchange chromatography on the formation of aging products were performed.

Shelf-Life Prediction of an Infant Formula Using an Accelerated Stability Test (Rancimat)

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1995
The purpose of this study was to predict the shelf life of an infant formula using accelerated stability tests to save time. The stability of two infant formulas (a commercially available infant formula and the same infant formula supplemented with microencapsulated fish oil) was followed throughout 18 months of storage at room temperature and for 20 ...

Evolution of Oxidative Values during Kinetic Studies on Olive Oil Oxidation in the Rancimat Test

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 2013
AbstractA comparative study was carried out in order to evaluate the kinetics of the formation of a number of primary and secondary oxidation products during oxidation of olive oil in the Rancimat test at 100–130 °C. There were good correlations between the Rancimat index (OSI) and stability indices (IP) measured in the Rancimat test with no ...

Determination of the Oxidative Stability of Edible Oils ‐ Interlaboratory Test with the Automated Rancimat(R) Method

Fette, Seifen, Anstrichmittel, 1986
AbstractThe performance of the 617‐Rancimat(R), an automated analyser made by Metrohm of Switzerland, for determining the oxidative stability of edible oils (Active Oxygen Method) has been examined in an interlaboratory test. The performance of this version of the Swift stability test, carried out by eleven laboratories in the Netherlands and the ...
