The Pathogenesis‐Related Protein 4b Induced by Rice Stripe Virus Enhances Host's Antiviral Defence

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 6, June 2026.
OsPR4b is induced by RSV to inhibit viral infection via regulating RNA metabolism and cell wall reinforcement, while its knockdown modulates NAC/MYB/ERF/WRKY family genes and enhances viral accumulation. ABSTRACT Rice stripe virus (RSV) causes rice stripe disease, which poses a serious threat to rice production.

Streamlined Synthesis and Structure–Activity Relationship Analysis of 2‐Amidothiophene‐3‐Carboxamides Targeting Influenza Polymerase PA‐PB1 Heterodimerization

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 10, 27 May 2026.
Development of a three‐step synthesis and replacement of the cycloheptyl moiety in cycloheptathiophene‐3‐carboxamide derivatives revealed how thiophene C‐5 substitutions modulate PA–PB1 inhibition, antiviral potency, and water solubility. The phenyl analog 9 delivered sub‐µM potency across multiple IV strains, while the methyl analog 5 achieved the ...

Exploring Erythrina flavonoids as potential SARS-CoV-2 RdRp inhibitors through virtual screening, in silico ADMET evaluation, and molecular dynamics simulation studies

open access: yesScientific Reports
The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has intensified the search for effective antiviral agents. This study investigates the inhibitory potential of 473 flavonoids from the genus Erythrina against the key enzyme of SARS-CoV-2, RNA-dependent RNA ...

The Polymorphism of Globin and Virus RdRP and Protein Space

open access: yes
Abstract The divergence of protein sequences, structures, and functions reveals Nature’s exploration of evolutionary possibilities within a given structural fold. Globins are ubiquitous across bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals; RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RdRPs) are responsible for the replication of RNA viruses.
