Rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen detection assay in comparison with real-time RT-PCR assay for laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19 in Thailand

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2020
Background The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic continues to spread across the world. Hence, there is an urgent need for rapid, simple, and accurate tests to diagnose severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection ...

Real-Time RT-PCR for the Detection of Lyssavirus Species [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medicine, 2014
The causative agents of rabies are single-stranded, negative-sense RNA viruses in the genus Lyssavirus of Rhabdoviridae, consisting of twelve classified and three as yet unclassified species including classical rabies virus (RABV). Highly neurotropic RABV causes rapidly progressive encephalomyelitis with nearly invariable fatal outcome.

Real-time RT-PCR in COVID-19 detection: issues affecting the results

open access: yesExpert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2020
Due to the rapid spread and increasing number of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) cases caused by a new coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), rapid and accurat...

Development of an RNA Extraction Protocol for Norovirus from Raw Oysters and Detection by qRT-PCR and Droplet-Digital RT-PCR

open access: yesFoods, 2021
Foodborne viruses such as norovirus and hepatitis A virus cause frequent outbreaks associated with the consumption of raw or undercooked oysters. Viral particles are bioaccumulated in the oyster’s digestive glands, making RNA extraction and RT-PCR ...

Novel dual multiplex real-time RT-PCR assays for the rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2, influenza A/B, and respiratory syncytial virus using the BD MAX open system

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections, 2021
SARS-CoV-2 has spread rapidly, causing deaths worldwide. In this study, we evaluated the performance of the BD MAX Open System module for identifying viral pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, in nasopharyngeal specimens from individuals with symptoms of ...

Transcriptional Changes in Response to Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Development in the Model Plant Medicago truncatula

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2003
Significant changes in root morphology and physiology during arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) development are likely to be controlled by specific gene expression pattern in the host plant.

Recent sequence variation in probe binding site affected detection of respiratory syncytial virus group B by real-time RT-PCR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Direct immuno-fluorescence test (IFAT) and multiplex real-time RT-PCR have been central to RSV diagnosis in Kilifi, Kenya. Recently, these two methods showed discrepancies with an increasing number of PCR undetectable RSV-B viruses ...

Dengue virus type 4 in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro: the role of molecular techniques in laboratory diagnosis and entomological surveillance

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2012
In Niterói, state of Rio de Janeiro, dengue virus type 4 (DENV-4) was isolated for the first time in March 2011. We analysed the laboratory findings of the first cases and evaluated the use of molecular techniques for the detection of DENV-4 in Aedes ...
