Real-Time RT-PCR for the Detection of Lyssavirus Species [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medicine, 2014
The causative agents of rabies are single-stranded, negative-sense RNA viruses in the genus Lyssavirus of Rhabdoviridae, consisting of twelve classified and three as yet unclassified species including classical rabies virus (RABV). Highly neurotropic RABV causes rapidly progressive encephalomyelitis with nearly invariable fatal outcome.

Comparative Performance of Digital PCR and Real-Time RT-PCR in Respiratory Virus Diagnostics [PDF]

open access: yesViruses
Background: Respiratory viral infections pose a major global health burden, and molecular diagnostics such as Real-Time RT-PCR have revealed frequent co-infections. However, precise quantification of viral RNA remains challenging.

Quantitative real-time RT-PCR – a perspective [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Endocrinology, 2005
Abstract The real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) uses fluorescent reporter molecules to monitor the production of amplification products during each cycle of the PCR reaction. This combines the nucleic acid amplification and detection steps into one homogeneous assay and obviates the need for gel ...
