[Parathyroid hormone and calcitonin receptors].

Annales d'endocrinologie, 1990
Parathyroid hormone and calcitonin are involved in the regulation of calcium metabolism via specific receptors in target organs principally bone and kidney. The pertinent findings in this rapidly evolving area of research are briefly summarized. The receptors for these two hormones have been extensively localised, the transduction of their signal ...

Functional Characterisation of the Calcitonin Receptor

2019
Calcitonin receptor (CTR) is a member of the class B G protein-coupled receptor with diverse physiological roles. In the first project of my thesis I examined CTR’s role in the deadly brain tumour glioblastoma multiforme. In the second project of my thesis I looked at the molecular determinants of mechanism of the CTR activation and signalling.

Characteristics of Brain Calcitonin Receptors

1989
Calcitonin (CT), a 32-amino acid peptide, was first discovered as a hypocalcemic hormone1,2. The major site of its biosynthesis is the thyroid gland C cell, which is well-documented to have its embryologic origin in the neural crest. Both the calcium ion itself and gut hormones, such as gastrin, are potent secretagogues of thyroidal CT3.
