PEAR1 Promotes Glucose Metabolism Reprogramming in Sepsis‐Associated Acute Lung Injury via AARS1‐Mediated HIF‐1α Lactylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study revealed that a PEAR1/HIF‐1α/ glycolysis/lactate/H3K18la positive feedback loop in PMVECs that drives the development of S‐ALI. Mechanistically, PEAR1 mediates the binding of HIF‐1α to AARS1, leading to the lactylation of HIF‐1α, the primary lactylation site of which is K172.

The B30.2/SPRY-Domain: A Versatile Binding Scaffold in Supramolecular Assemblies of Eukaryotes

open access: yesCrystals
B30.2 domains, sometimes referred to as PRY/SPRY domains, were originally identified by sequence profiling methods at the gene level. The B30.2 domain comprises a concanavalin A-like fold consisting of two twisted seven-stranded anti-parallel β-sheets ...

NSD2 Coordinates the Neurogenic‐to‐Gliogenic Transition via H3K36me2‐Dependent Activation of the EGFR‐ERK Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NSD2 coordinates the neurogenic‐to‐gliogenic transition in the developing neocortex through H3K36me2‐dependent activation of EGFR–ERK signaling. Loss of NSD2 disrupts astroglial and oligodendroglial development, whereas ERK activation rescues gliogenic defects in vitro and in vivo.

The Antidepressant Mirtazapine Inhibits Hepatic Innate Immune Networks to Attenuate Immune-Mediated Liver Injury in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Activation of the innate immune system, including tissue macrophages and associated neutrophil infiltration, is an important driver of subsequent adaptive immune responses in many autoimmune diseases, including autoimmune hepatitis (AIH).

Inhibition of intercellular adhesion by concanavalin A is associated with concanavalin A-mediated redistribution of surface receptors. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of cell biology, 1979
The inhibition of adhesion between aggregates and layers of embryonic retinal cells by concanavalin A (Con A) and Con A-mediated rearrangements of Con A receptors on retinal cells were studied. A short incubation of aggregates and layers with 10 micrograms/ml Con A substantially reduced aggregate-to-layer adhesion in a subsequent assay without soluble ...

Morphophysiological dynamics of the proximal post‐testicular ducts in Crotalus durissus Linnaeus, 1758 (Squamata: Viperidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The organization and function of reptilian excurrent ducts remain poorly characterized, particularly in Neotropical snakes. We provide the first integrative morphological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural analysis of the proximal post‐testicular ducts of Crotalus durissus across reproductive stages.

The effect of concanavalin A on the replication of rotavirus (SA-11) in cell culture

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2002
Rotavirus (RV) strain SA-11 was studied with respect to its infectivity in MA-104 cell cultures and the effect of concanavalin A (ConA). Receptors for ConA at the surface of MA-104 cell were determined by fluorescence assay and specifically inhibited by ...

Dopamine D2 Receptor-Mediated AKT/PKB Signalling: Initiation by the D2S Receptor and Role in Quinpirole-Induced Behavioural Activation

open access: yesASN Neuro, 2012
The short and long isoforms of the dopamine D2 receptor (D2S and D2L respectively) are highly expressed in the striatum. Functional D2 receptors activate an intracellular signalling pathway that includes a cAMP-independent route involving Akt/GSK3 ...

Next Generation Hosts for Protein Recognition, Assembly and More

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The original design of synthetic receptors for proteins was based on macrocycles with a hydrophobic core and a polar/charged periphery. This design, geared towards protein recognition, facilitates receptor self‐assembly. Macrocycle oligomerization, in turn, contributes to protein assembly as evidenced in many cocrystal structures.

Zeb2 Controls Retinal Physiological and Pathological Angiogenesis by Regulating Astrocyte Proliferation and Differentiation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
During development, the oxygen‐sensitive transcription factor Zeb2 restrains astrocyte proliferation and maturation to ensure balanced retinal angiogenesis. In disease, it promotes the neurotoxic A1 astrocyte phenotype and inflammation, thereby promoting reparative revascularization over pathological neovascularization.
