Rifaximin Use Is Associated With Prognosis and Recurrence Patterns in Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis: Exploratory Insights Into the Oral–Gut–Hepatic Axis

open access: yesJGH Open, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) remains a life‐threatening complication in cirrhotic patients with refractory ascites. Evidence for rifaximin (RFX) in SBP prevention and prognosis is lacking in Japan. We investigated the effect of RFX on prognosis and recurrence of SBP and evaluated the prognostic role of oral health within ...

The Effects of Histaminergic Agents in the Nucleus Accumbens of Rats in the Elevated Plus-Maze Test of Anxiety

open access: yesBasic and Clinical Neuroscience, 2010
Introduction/Aims: The nucleus accumbens (NAc) receives histaminergic neurons from tuberomammillary nuclei. There are also reports indicating that central histamine systems are involved in many physiological behavioral processes, including anxiety.

Prescription Behaviour and Drug Interactions of Acid Suppressants With Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors in Patients With Leukaemia: Data From Germany

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 7, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are essential in treating chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and other malignancies. Their absorption, however, is highly pH‐dependent, making them susceptible to interactions with acid‐suppressing agents such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), histamine‐2 receptor antagonists (H2RAs) and antacids ...

Basophil Activation Test as Biomarker of Severity and Threshold of Allergic Reactions to Cow's Milk During Oral Food Challenges

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1193-1204, April 2026.
The threshold of reactivity during fresh milk challenges was 70% lower than that of baked milk challenges, reflecting the higher allergenicity of fresh milk. BAT was the only biomarker statistically significantly different between severity and threshold groups, for baked milk and fresh milk allergies, respectively.
