ABSTRACT Background Coronary slow flow and no reflow significantly predict poor prognosis in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients, especially those with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Early identification of factors contributing to these conditions can mitigate ischemic events and improve outcomes.

Plasma PCSK9 preferentially reduces liver LDL receptors in mice*
Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is a secreted protein that regulates the expression of LDL receptor (LDLR) protein. Gain-of-function mutations in PCSK9 cause hypercholesterolemia, and loss-of-function mutations result in lower ...

Plasma proteome correlates of lipid and lipoprotein: biomarkers of metabolic diversity and inflammation in children of rural Nepal. [PDF]
Proteins involved in lipoprotein metabolism can modulate cardiovascular health. While often measured to assess adult metabolic diseases, little is known about the proteomes of lipoproteins and their relation to metabolic dysregulation and underlying ...

ABSTRACT Background Up to 50% of patients with ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) develop coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). Aims This study aims to assess whether a prothrombotic state of coronary blood, defined by thromboelastography (TEG), is associated with post ...

Enhanced metabolism of LDL aggregates mediated by specific human monocyte IgG Fc receptors.
Macrophage-derived foam cells are important constituents of atheromatous lesions. In addition to the scavenger receptor pathway, uptake of immune complexed lipoproteins through IgG Fc receptors (Fc gamma receptors) represents an additional pathway of ...

Cutting‐Edge Aptasensing Approaches for Electrochemical Detection of Exosomes Utilizing MXenes
This work notably summarizes research on 2D MXenes/MXene's‐hybrid‐based nanoplatforms patterned with aptamers as an alternative to antibodies affording highly sensitive and robust biosensing of exosomes as well as their efficient isolation. The exosomes are highlighted as a valuable source of biomarkers and with the immobilization approaches of ...

Harnessing Viral Proteases for Cellular and Molecular Engineering
Engineered viral proteases (VIPs) provide programmable control of protein function with high specificity and low toxicity. Integrated with chemogenetic and optogenetic modules, these VIP systems enable logic gate manipulation for targeted regulation of cell signaling, gene expression, protein secretion, and degradation, thereby offering versatile ...

A dot-blot assay for the low density lipoprotein receptor.
We describe a new method for detecting the interaction of low density lipoprotein with its receptor using unmodified nitrocellulose as support for membrane protein. The method is specific and sensitive down to 3 micrograms of membrane protein.
