Intermolecular Contact Regions in Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor
Journal of Biochemistry, 2003The glycolipid-anchored urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) is engaged in various signal transduction events related to cell adhesion, migration and proliferation. In this study, using phage display and peptide array techniques, we have identified several intermolecular contact regions of uPAR.

Urokinase plasminogen activator receptor levels in Behcet's disease
Thrombosis Research, 2011To determine urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) concentrations in Behcet patients with and without ocular involvement; and to investigate the associations between uPAR levels and clinical manifestations of Behcet's disease.Sixty-four patients with Behcet's disease (31 patients with and 33 patients without ocular involvement) and 23 healthy

Abstract Background: In venous thrombi, urokinase associated with leukocytes activates plasminogen to initiate endogenous fibrinolysis. Leukocytes also interact with arteriolar thrombi. Objectives: We hypothesized that urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) activity would also be delivered to arteriolar thrombi by ...

Immunohistochemistry was used to assess the expression of urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) and uPA receptor (uPAR) in 57 canine primary haemangiosarcomas (HSAs), 26 canine cutaneous haemangiomas (HAs) and in control sections of canine cutaneous granulation tissue.

It has become more and more clear in recent decades that the plasminogen activation system, which includes urokinase‐type plasminogen activator (uPA), urokinase‐type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI)‐1 and PAI‐2, plays a very important role in the aggressiveness of cancer. Using immunohistochemistry and enzyme‐

Novel protein interactors of urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2010The urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) has been implicated in tumor growth and metastasis. The crystal structure of uPAR revealed that the external surface is largely free to interact with a number of proteins. Additionally, due to absence of an intracellular cytoplasmic protein domain, many of the biological functions of uPAR ...

Regulation of the Urokinase Receptor by Its Plasminogen Activator
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1991SummaryThere is now ample evidence that the proteolytic action of urokinase (UK) is potentiated by a specific cell surface receptor. The present study was undertaken to assess the role of UK as a modulator of its receptor. GEO colonic cells, which secrete relatively low levels of UK (≃0.1 nM/72 h per 106 cells) and display approximately 104 receptors ...

Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor in blood transfusion components
Transfusion Medicine, 2004Summary. Post‐transfusion infectious complications associated with allogeneic blood components may depend on storage time and may be related to extracellular accumulation of bioactive substances during storage. The glycoprotein, soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), which is located in specific granules of neutrophils, plays a role

The binding of the zymogenic form of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (pro-uPA) to its specific cellular receptor, uPAR, leads to a large potentiation of plasmin generation. This is dependent on the concurrent cellular binding of plasminogen, and is completely abrogated by the plasminogen lysine-binding site ligand, 6-aminohexanoic acid.

A CELLULAR RECEPTOR FOR UROKINASE-TYPE PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR
Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1987Recent cell biological and biochemical studies on the urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) have revealed an unsuspected property of this protein: it binds with high affinity and specificity to the plasma membrane of a number of cell types. Hence, while the interaction of tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) with fibrin suggests a preferred ...
