Pelvic breadth and juvenile locomotor energetics: Implications for the obstetrical dilemma hypothesis across human growth in past and present humans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The obstetrical dilemma hypothesis (ODH) proposes an evolutionary trade‐off between obstetric requirements and locomotor performance. However, whether external pelvic breadth measures influence walking energetics during human growth remains poorly understood.

Relaxin protects rat lungs from ischemia-reperfusion injury via inducible NO synthase: role of ERK-1/2, PI3K, and forkhead transcription factor FKHRL1.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
IntroductionEarly allograft dysfunction following lung transplantation is mainly an ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury. We showed that relaxin-2 (relaxin) exerts a protective effect in lung IR, attributable to decreases in endothelin-1 (ET-1) production ...

Sheep Horn Development Revealed by Multi‐Tissue and Cross‐Species Transcriptomic Analysis

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Multi‐tissue and cross‐species transcriptomics with allele‐specific expression show sheep horns are a composite organ integrating epidermal and osteogenic programs. Conserved horn gene modules and cis‐regulatory variation fine‐tune expression networks underlying horn development and size (small scurs vs. large spiral horns).

Membranous dysmenorrhea and decidual casts: A scoping review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Membranous dysmenorrhea, characterized by the expulsion of intact endometrial tissue rather than gradual dissolution during menstruation, occasionally presents as a decidual cast—a complete triangular mold of the uterine cavity. This poorly understood condition is likely underdiagnosed.

Periodontitis and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes: Mechanistic Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aims to describe mechanisms linking periodontal diseases in pregnancy with adverse pregnancy outcomes. ABSTRACT Periodontal diseases, including both gingivitis and periodontitis, occur commonly among pregnant individuals. Both gingivitis and periodontitis are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) such as early ...

Clinical Efficacy and Mechanisms of ZiyuShuang, an Anti‐Skin Aging Formula Identified Through Network Medicine Framework Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Skin aging, a key aspect of physiological decline, markedly affects appearance, making strategies to delay it vital for quality of life. Materials and Methods We applied network medicine analysis to screen herbal medicines from the TCMSP database, yielding an anti‐skin aging formula, ZiYuShuang (ZYS).

Effects of Selenocysteine Substitution on the Cyclotide Kalata B2

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Selenocysteine (Sec) substitution of any of the native complementary cysteine (Cys) residues of the cyclotide kalata B2 preserves the structure, cytotoxicity, and membrane‐binding activity while enhancing its folding efficiency. The study shows the conservative nature and folding benefit of selenocysteine replacement in kalata B2.

Distinct activation modes of the Relaxin Family Peptide Receptor 2 in response to insulin-like peptide 3 and relaxin

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Relaxin family peptide receptor 2 (RXFP2) is a GPCR known for its role in reproductive function. It is structurally related to the human relaxin receptor RXFP1 and can be activated by human gene-2 (H2) relaxin as well as its cognate ligand insulin-like ...

Virtual single‐cell perturbation and genetic causal inference reveal CSF1R‐dependent immunometabolic communication in iron metabolism‐associated osteoarthritis

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 3, September 2026.
Integrative genetic, single‐cell, and perturbation analyses identify CSF1R as a macrophage‐centered immunometabolic signaling hub linking iron dysregulation to osteoarthritis. CSF1R‐driven monocyte–macrophage remodeling may coordinate immune activation, extracellular matrix remodeling, and cartilage degeneration, providing a potential therapeutic ...
