The cytoplasmic nuclear receptor RARγ controls RIP1 initiated cell death when cIAP activity is inhibited

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The molecular switch between how tumour necrosis factor (TNF) controls inflammation versus cell death is less well defined. Here, the authors show that the nuclear receptor retinoic acid receptor gamma is released from the nucleus to disrupt TNF ...

The role of Rho GTPases in facial morphogenesis

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
The role of small GTPases, RHOA, RAC1, and CDC42 and pathway mediators is reviewed in the context of embryonic facial development. Lip fusion requires cytoskeletal remodeling during morphogenesis of the facial processes and during lip fusion. Fnm, frontonasal mass; lnp, lateral nasal process; mnp, medial nasal process; mxp, maxillary process; np, nasal

Synthesis of Unsymmetric Bis(heteroaryl) Selenides by Rhodium‐Catalyzed Exchange Reaction of Heteroaryl Fluorides and Ethers Using Se‐Heteroaryl Carboselenoates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Various unsymmetric bis(heteroaryl) selenides are synthesized by the rhodium‐catalyzed exchange reaction of heteroaryl fluorides and ethers with Se‐heteroaryl 1‐adamatanecarboselenoates. The synthetic method is applicable to a broad range of five‐ and six‐membered heteroaryl derivatives and provides compounds containing multiple heteroatoms.

Epigenotoxicity: Decoding the epigenetic imprints of genotoxic agents and their implications for regulatory genetic toxicology

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, EarlyView.
Abstract Regulatory genetic toxicology focuses on DNA damage and subsequent gene mutations. However, genotoxic agents can also affect epigenetic marks, and incorporation of epigenetic data into the regulatory framework may thus enhance the accuracy of risk assessment.

Genetic epilepsies with myoclonic seizures: Mechanisms and syndromes

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Genetic epilepsy with myoclonic seizures encompasses a heterogeneous spectrum of conditions, ranging from benign and self‐limiting forms to severe, progressive disorders. While their causes are diverse, a significant proportion stems from genetic abnormalities.

Effects of all-trans retinoic acid on glutamate receptor expression and dendritic spine density in the hypothalamus of rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Increasing evidence suggests that all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) contributes to the pathogenesis of depression. Although numerous studies have emphasized the role of hippocampal glutamatergic transmission and dendritic spine abnormalities in ATRA-induced

One‐Stone‐Two‐Birds Carrier‐Free Nano‐Cocktail Enables Synergistic Eradication of Cancer Cells/Stem Cells in Breast Cancer Treatment

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are widely recognized as the culprits of chemoresistance, tumor metastasis, and relapse. Moreover, most chemotherapeutic drugs not only fail to eliminate CSCs effectively, but also induce the acquisition of stemness characteristics in non‐stem cancer cells. Herein, we propose a cancer cells/CSCs double‐killing modality

Case report: Successful therapy with azacitidine for acute myeloid leukemia with NUP98::RARG resembling acute promyelocytic leukemia

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
We report a case of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with retinoic acid receptor gamma (RARG) rearrangement, exhibiting clinical, morphological, and immunophenotypic features similar to classic acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).
